Iain MacLean (politician)
Iain Douglas MacLean (14 November 1953 – 27 December 2008) was an Australian politician. He was born in Perth and was educated at Kent Street Senior High School. He was a stores and warehouse administration worker before entering politics. A member of the Liberal Party, in 1994 he was elected in a countback to the Western Australian Legislative Council for North Metropolitan. In 1996 he resigned to run for the Legislative Assembly seat of Wanneroo Wanneroo is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located within the City of Wanneroo. Geography As it is on the Swan Coastal Plain, the Wanneroo wetlands stretch parallel to the coastline and to the north and south of the suburb. Dianne Joy Guise (born 29 October 1952) is an Australian politician. She was a Labor member of the Western Australian Legislative Assembly from 2001 to 2008, representing the district of Wanneroo. Born in Melbourne, Guise was formerly the President of the WA Council of State School Organisations. Guise was first elected to parliament at the 2001 state election, defeating sitting Liberal MP Iain McLean. Guise was re-elected at the 2005 election, defeating Liberal candidate Paul Miles. From 2001 to 2008, Guise served Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Assembly and the Chairman of Committees. Wayde Shannon Smith (born 19 April 1954) is a former Australian politician. Born in Western Australia, he served on Wanneroo City Council from 1990 to 1993. Kent Street Senior High School is a public co-educational specialist high day and boarding school in the Town of Victoria Park, located on Kent Street in East Victoria Park, a suburb of Perth, Western Australia. Over 50 percent of students attending Kent Street live in neighbouring or other school districts. This is largely due to Kent Street's specialist programs (aeronautics, cricket, fashion & design, and Centre of Resources Excellence (CoRE)). History The Western Australian Parliament received many proposals for a high school to situated south of the river through the 1920s but a lack of funds mostly due to the depression meant that the school did not eventuate. In 1932 a survey was conducted finding that 410 post primary age children were living in the South Perth and Victoria Park areas. Wanneroo is an electoral district of the Legislative Assembly in the Australian state of Western Australia. The district is located in the northern suburbs of Perth. Wanneroo is a marginal seat; it has been held by the government of the day on every occasion since its creation in 1989. Geography Wanneroo is based in the outer northern suburbs of Perth.
