Iaciara is a municipality in northeastern Goiás state, Brazil. Geography Iaciara is located in Vão do Paranã statistical micro-region, which borders the state of Bahia. The distance to the state capital of Goiânia is 548 kilometers. Highway connections are made by BR-153 / Anápolis / GO-060 / Alexânia / Formosa / BR-020 / Alvorada do Norte / GO-112 for 58 km. The municipality has boundaries with Posse, Alvorada do Norte, Guarani de Goiás, Nova Roma and São Domingos, and contains the following settlements: Claretiana, Extrema, Levantado and Água Quente. The rivers that cross the municipality are: the Paranã, Água Quente, São Bernardo and Prata. Economics The main economic activities are cattle raising and agriculture (rice, beans, corn and bananas). In 2007 there were 6 small transformation industries and 114 retail establishments. There was one bank.

Paranã River

The difference between the two is in the diacritic on the final syllable.'' The Paranã River is located in Goiás and Tocantins states, Brazil. It divides two regions - the Northeast and north-central Goiás. It is formed by tributaries that descend the Serra Geral, the mountains that divide eastern Goiás and Bahia. One of the most important tributaries is the Crixás, which has its source near Formosa. Farther to the north the Paranã becomes the main tributary of the Tocantins River on the right bank. Today it is crossed by a long concrete bridge between the municipalities of Iaciara and Nova Roma. It forms the valley which makes up a vast region called the Vão do Paranã Microregion. Posse, Goiás
Posse is a municipality in northeastern Goiás state, Brazil. It is located northeast of Brasília, 24 km from the state boundary with Bahia, on interstate highway BR-020 (Brasília-Salvador). History The town of Posse arose with the arrival of Northeastern migrants fleeing the drought in search of fertile lands in the mid-19th century. Among the pioneers there were many descendants of Argentinians and Portuguese and many of the streams and rivers had names remembering those far away lands—Rio Corrente, Rio Prata, and Porto Buenos Aires. The settlement was first called Buenos Aires, located below the joining of the Rio Corrente with the Rio Paranã.
