"I giardini di marzo" () is a 1972 song composed by Lucio Battisti (music) and Mogol (lyrics), arranged by Gian Piero Reverberi and performed by Lucio Battisti. The song is build in a crescendo, with minimalist music and a trembling, whispering voice at the start, followed by a gradual melodic and orchestral overture, a structure which reflects the lyrics, which initially feature a dark portrait of depression which progressively opens up to hope. Lucio Battisti
Lucio Battisti (5 March 1943 – 9 September 1998) was an influential Italian singer-songwriter and composer. He is widely recognized for songs that defined the late 1960s and 1970s era of Italian songwriting. Battisti released 18 studio albums from 1969 to 1994, with a significant portion of this catalogue translated into Spanish (various albums), English (one album), French (two albums), and German (one album). He was known to be an extremely reserved artist, performing only a small number of live concerts during his career. In 1978 he announced that he would speak to the public only through his musical work, limiting himself to the recording of studio albums and disappearing from the public scene. Formula 3 (also spelled as Formula Tre) is an Italian pop-rock musical group, mainly successful in the early 1970s. History The group formed in 1969 as a power trio with Alberto Radius on guitar, vocals and bass, Gabriele Lorenzi on keyboards and bass, and Tony Cicco on drums and vocals. Produced by Lucio Battisti, they supported Battisti in his rare live concerts. Their first hit was the song "Questo folle sentimento", which peaked at number five in the Italian charts in 1970. It was followed by a series of top 20 hits, notably "Io ritorno solo" (number 3) and "Eppur mi son scordato di te" (number 2), all composed by Battisti with his writing partner Mogol.
