''I Want That You Are Always Happy'' is the debut studio album by Australian folk band The Middle East, released in Australia and New Zealand through Spunk Records on 8 April 2011. The album was recorded, mixed and co-produced by Mark Myers. Only one single, "Hunger Song", was released for the album. The album debuted and peaked at number 11 on the Australian Album Chart and remained on the chart for five weeks. At the J Awards of 2011, the album was nominated for Australian Album of the Year. At the Queensland Music Awardsof 2011, the album won Album of the Year. The Middle East (band)
The Middle East were an Australian indie folk band formed in Townsville, Queensland in 2005. The group played locally initially but grew to become a national and international touring band. The band's name has no particular significance - it was coined for a show poster of the then temporary project, after co-frontman Rohin Jones watched a documentary on Yasser Arafat. In early 2008, the band released a compilation album called ''The Recordings of The Middle East'' before splitting up. Eight months after this decision was made, band members reconvened and later re-released an abridged version of the debut album, ''The Recordings of the Middle East'' as an EP in May 2009 through Spunk Records in Australia. Midlake
Midlake is an American folk rock band from Denton, Texas, formed in 1999. The band consists of Eric Pulido, McKenzie Smith, Scott Lee, Eric Nichelson, Jesse Chandler, and Joey McClellan. In 2012, vocalist, guitarist and primary songwriter Tim Smith left the band during the recording of its fourth studio album. Indie Folk
Indie folk is a music genre that arose in the 1990s among musicians from indie rock scenes influenced by folk music. Indie folk hybridizes the acoustic guitar melodies of traditional folk music with contemporary instrumentation.
