''I Want a Solution'' ( ar, أريد حلاً, translit.Oridu hallan) is a 1975 Egyptian drama film directed by Said Marzouk and produced by Salah Zulfikar. The film was selected as the Egyptian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 48th Academy Awards, but was not accepted as a nominee. The film criticized the laws governing marriage and divorce in Egypt. The film is listed in Top 100 Egyptian films list and it earned the 1975 Ministry of Culture's best producer award for Salah Zulfikar. The script was written by Said Marzouk and Faten Hamama. ''I Want a Solution'' is inspired by a true story and it is Marzouk's third feature film. Plot The film unveils the injustice of Egypt's personal status laws against women. Salah El Din Ahmed Mourad Zulfikar ( ar, صلاح ذو الفقار; ; 18 January 1926 – 22 December 1993) was an Egyptian actor and film producer. He started his career as a police officer in the Egyptian National Police, before becoming an actor in 1956. He is regarded as one of the most influential actors in the history of Egyptian film industry. Zulfikar had roles in more than hundred feature films in multiple genres during a 37-year career, mostly as the leading actor. In 1996, in the centenary of Egyptian cinema, ten of his films as an actor and five of his films as a producer were listed in the Top hundred Egyptian films of the 20th century. Salah Zulfikar was one of Egypt's heroes in its battle against the occupation while serving in the police. This is a list of submissions to the 48th Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film. The Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film was created in 1956 by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honour non-English-speaking films produced outside the United States. The award is handed out annually, and is accepted by the winning film's director, although it is considered an award for the submitting country as a whole. Countries are invited by the Academy to submit their best films for competition according to strict rules, with only one film being accepted from each country. For the 48th Academy Awards, twenty-one films were submitted in the category Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. Egypt has submitted films for consideration for the Academy Award for Best International Feature Film since 1958, when Youssef Chahine's ''Cairo Station'' became both the first African and the first Arab film to contend for the award. The Foreign Film award is handed out annually by the United States Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to a feature-length motion picture produced outside the United States that contains primarily non-English dialogue. The award was created for the 1956 Academy Awards, succeeding the non-competitive Honorary Academy Awards which were presented between 1947 and 1955 to the best foreign language films released in the United States. Hesham Selim ( ar, هشام سليم; 27 January 1958 – 22 September 2022) was an Egyptian film and television actor. He’s the son of Saleh Selim. He acted in many movies and television series since his childhood. Career Selim's first acting role was in ''Empire M'' (1972), in which he acted as the son of Faten Hamama. However, he took his schooling seriously and did not act again until he graduated, in which he studied Tourism in Helwan University. Beside his acting career, he hosted the TV show "Hiwar Al Qahira" on Sky News Arabia. Personal life Selim was married twice. Mervat El Nahas was his first wife who was the mother of his three children. He then married Nadia Al Ghaleb in 2004. On 5 May 2020, he spoke on television about having a 26-year-old transgender son, in a rare public show of support for LGBT+ rights in the conservative Muslim majority country.
