"I Say Yeah!" is a single released by all five of the signed artists of Neosite Discs, a sub-label of Ki/oon Records dedicated to R&B, hip hop and reggae, to celebrate the label's 10th anniversary. The single received minor popularity, entering the chart at #8, dropping to #20 in its second week, and staying in the charts for seven weeks. The A-side was the opening theme for NTV's ''Music Fighter'' in October. A live concert was held at Shibuya-AX on October 27, 2006, to celebrate the 10th anniversary, with all of the participating artists performing the A-side from the single as well as a number of their own tracks. , born on November 26, 1975 is a Zainichi Korean reggae artist. She is signed to Sony Music Japan's Ki/oon Records division. She began performing in the Kansai reggae scene in 1995. In 1998, she contributed back-up vocals for the Refugee Camp's " It's Too Late", a Carole King cover. After being signed to Sony Music Japan, she recorded and released her first single, " Brand New Day" on June 19, 1999 to much critical acclaim. In September 1999, she released her second single "Strong Woman", which was also a commercial success. Rhymester (group)
is a Japanese hip hop group consisting of MCs Mummy-D and Utamaru, and DJ Jin. History The group is one of the oldest Japanese hip hop acts, having formed in 1989. They debuted on an independent label in 1993 with the EP , which was panned by critics. Later on, they released several studio albums and gradually became popular among not only hip hop fans but also rock fans, as they frequently collaborated with rock musicians such as Kiyoshiro Imawano. In 2001, the group made their major label debut when they signed onto Ki/oon Records, a sublabel of Sony Music Entertainment Japan. On March 3, 2007, the group performed solo at the Nippon Budokan, almost 20 years after their original debut. Home Made Kazoku
was a Japanese hip-hop trio from Nagoya, formed in 1996, and whose hiatus started in 2016. They are signed to Ki/oon Records, a subsidiary of Sony Music. Biography Home Made Kazoku is a trio, consisting of members Micro, Kuro, and DJ U-Ichi. The band was originally formed in 1996 under a different name. The band was in a state of flux with regard to membership until 2001, when they settled on becoming a trio with the name Home Made Kazoku. From 2001 to 2003, the band performed in various Nagoya nightclubs. In early 2004, the band was chosen to be part of a country-wide tour known as the Japan Club Tour. During the tour, the trio gained a large portion of their Japanese fanbase, and were also signed on by the recording company, Ki/oon Records. Contemporary Urban
Urban contemporary music, also known as urban music, hip hop, urban pop, or just simply urban, is a music radio format. The term was coined by New York radio DJ Frankie Crocker in the early to mid-1970s as a synonym for Black music. Reggae
Reggae () is a music genre that originated in Jamaica in the late 1960s. The term also denotes the modern popular music of Jamaica and its diaspora. A 1968 single by Toots and the Maytals, " Do the Reggay" was the first popular song to use the word "reggae", effectively naming the genre and introducing it to a global audience. While sometimes used in a broad sense to refer to most types of popular Jamaican dance music, the term ''reggae'' more properly denotes a particular music style that was strongly influenced by traditional mento as well as American jazz and rhythm and blues, and evolved out of the earlier genres ska and rocksteady. Reggae usually relates news, social gossip, and political commentary. It is instantly recognizable from the counterpoint between the bass and drum downbeat and the offbeat rhythm section.
