I Never Knew You
''I Never Knew You'' is the second extended play by American rapper Cage. Released by Adult Swim and Definitive Jux, the EP was released to promote Cage's album ''Depart from Me'' and the first music video from that album, "I Never Knew You", and contained four exclusive tracks. The title track, "I Never Knew You", appeared on the album ''Depart from Me''. ''I Never Knew You'' was initially released as a free digital download, but has since been released through digital stores. Release The EP was released in conjunction with the release of a music video for "I Never Knew You" directed by Shia LaBeouf. The video features actor Dan Byrd following a woman played by Scarlett Kapella. Cage (rapper)
Christian Palko (born May 4, 1973), better known by his stage name Cage, is an American rapper, record producer, and actor from Middletown, New York. With a majority of his career being spent with record labels Definitive Jux and Eastern Conference. He has released six solo albums, in addition to two compilation albums and two EPs. Aside from his solo career, Cage is one of the founders of the underground hip hop supergroup The Weathermen, which was formed in 1999. He also established a group called Smut Peddlers, with hip hop duo The High & Mighty, publishing an album titled ''Porn Again'', in 2001. Yak Ballz, born Yashar Zadeh is an American independent hip hop artist, who was brought up in Flushing, Queens, New York. He is one of the original members of The Weathermen. He is also a member of Cardboard City. Since 2019 he has worked for Warner Bros. Records as Vice President of their Media & Strategic Development team. Alex Pardee is an American freelance artist, apparel designer, and comics creator writer, best known for illustrating the Used's album artwork. ''Depart from Me'' is the third solo studio album by American rapper Cage. It was released by Definitive Jux on July 7, 2009. It peaked at number 133 on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart. Production Cage describes ''Depart from Me'' as being "an exorcism of sorts", stating that it is more personal than his previous albums. Cage states that the album's lyrics do not focus on social commentary, but instead deal with life and "things that people can relate to". The album continues from the lyrical direction of ''Hell's Winter'' and distancing himself from the persona featured on ''Movies for the Blind''. Cage felt that since becoming a father, he no longer wished to write the same type of lyrical content as he had in the past.
