I Miss You (Beverley Craven Song)
"I Miss You" is a ballad performed by British singer Beverley Craven, from her third album '' Mixed Emotions''. Details The song was originally written for the 1996 film '' The Adventures of Pinocchio'', and was written from the point of view of Geppetto after Pinocchio leaves him. The song however was rejected by the film's producers. Eventually, the song was released on her next album '' Mixed Emotions'', and was chosen as the first single. The song was sent to radios as a promotional single when the album was released in May 1999. A commercial release of the single was planned for the end of July, however the label refused to give it a full release, possibly due to the underperformance of the album on the UK charts and all promotion was halted soon afterwards. The song become a huge radio hit in Poland, peaking #1 on the airplay chart. Beverley Craven (born 28 July 1963) is a British singer-songwriter best known for her 1991 UK hit single " Promise Me". Her album '' Change of Heart'' was released in 2014 and '' Mixed Emotions'' in 1999. Biography Early life Craven was born in Colombo, Ceylon (now Sri Lanka), in July 1963, while her British father was working there for Kodak. He later worked as an investment advisor. Within two years, the family had relocated to rural Buckinghamshire, to a bungalow on a five acre plot and where her younger twin sisters were born. Craven began taking piano lessons at the age of seven, encouraged by her music teacher mother who was a classical violinist and who had performed at the Royal Albert Hall. Upon leaving school, Craven attended art college. She also performed with various bands in London pubs and was writing songs. ''Mixed Emotions'' is the third studio album by Beverley Craven, released in 1999. The album was released after a 5-year hiatus, in which Craven gave birth to two daughters and took time off to take care of her three children. On this album she did not collaborate with the producer of her previous two albums, Paul Samwell-Smith, and instead Craven fully produced the release. The lead single, " I Miss You", was released as a promo single and a videoclip was made for it. However, the record label refused to release the single commercially. The album received mixed reviews and it charted at #46 in the UK Albums Chart, staying 2 weeks in the Top 75. Craven made a small tour around the UK to support the album. No further singles were released from the album, and Craven parted ways with her label Epic Records shortly after. Geppetto ( , ), also known as Mister Geppetto, is an Italian fictional character in the 1883 novel ''The Adventures of Pinocchio'' by Carlo Collodi. Geppetto is an elderly, impoverished woodcarver and the creator (and thus 'father') of Pinocchio. He wears a yellow wig resembling cornmeal mush (called ''polendina''), and consequently his neighbors call him "Polendina" to annoy him.
