''I Met Him in Paris'' is a 1937 American comedy film directed by Wesley Ruggles and starring Claudette Colbert, Melvyn Douglas, and Robert Young (actor), Robert Young. It written by Claude Binyon and produced by Paramount Pictures. It was the first film shown at Washington, D.C.'s Newton Theater when it opened in the Brookland (Washington, D.C.), Brookland neighborhood on July 29, 1937. Wesley Ruggles
Wesley Ruggles (June 11, 1889 – January 8, 1972) was an American film director. Life and work He was born in Los Angeles, California, younger brother of actor Charlie Ruggles. He began his career in 1915 as an actor, appearing in a dozen or so silent films, on occasion with Charlie Chaplin. In 1917, he turned his attention to directing, making more than 50 films—including a silent version of Edith Wharton's novel ''The Age of Innocence'' (1924)—before he won acclaim with '' Cimarron'' in 1931. The adaptation of Edna Ferber's novel '' Cimarron'', about homesteaders settling in the prairies of Oklahoma, was the first Western to win an Oscar as Best Picture. Ruggles followed this success with the light comedy '' No Man of Her Own'' (1932) with Clark Gable and Carole Lombard, the comedy ''I'm No Angel'' (1933) with Mae West and Cary Grant, '' College Humor'' (1933) with Bing Crosby, and ''Bolero'' (1934) with George Raft and Carole Lombard. Eugene Borden
Eugene Borden (born Élysée Eugène Prieur-Bardin, March 21, 1897 – July 2, 1971) was an American character actor in silent and sound films. Born in France, he immigrated to the United States as a teenager, and entered the film industry a short time later. He appeared in over 150 films, as well as shorts, serials, and television shows. Life and career Born in Paris, France, on March 21, 1897, Borden immigrated to the United States in 1914 at the age of 17. By 1917 he had entered the film industry, appearing in a featured role in Christy Cabanne's ''The Slacker''.
