IV Corps (India)
The IV Corps, or the Gajraj Corps, is a military field formation of the Indian Army, covering the states of Assam and western Arunachal Pradesh. History IV Corps under Lieutenant General NMS Irwin was deployed from the Middle East in January 1942 for the defense of Assam from the advancing Japanese during World War II. Following the end of the war, the corps was demobilised in November 1945. The corps was re-raised by Lieutenant General Brij Mohan Kaul at Tezpur, Assam on 4 October 1962, close to the Sino-Indian War. Over the years, it has played a role in both conventional and counter-insurgency operations in the eastern theatre, especially during the 1971 war in Bangladesh. During the Indo-Pakistani War of 1971, the Gajraj Corps made the famous advance to Dhaka during the liberation of Bangladesh and also participated in the Meghna Heli Bridge Operations. The Indian Army is the land-based branch and the largest component of the Indian Armed Forces. General is a four-star general officer rank in the Indian Army. It is the highest active rank in the Indian Army. General ranks above the three-star rank of lieutenant general and below the five-star rank of field marshal, which is largely a war-time or ceremonial rank. A general may be referred to as a full general or four-star general to distinguish them from lower general officer ranks like lieutenant general and major general. XXXIII Corps (India)
XXXIII Corps is a corps of the Indian Army. It draws some of its heritage from the British Indian XXXIII Corps (British India), XXXIII Corps which was formed in 1942, but disbanded in 1945. It was re-raised in 1960 at Shillong. XV Corps (India)
XV Corps, or 15 Corps, also known as Chinar Corps, is a Corps of the Indian Army which is presently located in Srinagar and responsible for military operations in the Kashmir Valley. It has participated in all military conflicts with Pakistan and China till date. Devraj Anbu
Lieutenant General Devraj Anbu, PVSM, UYSM, AVSM, YSM, SM, ADC is a retired Indian Army general who served as Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS). He assumed office on 1 June 2018 following the retirement of Lt Gen Sarath Chand, and retired on 31 August 2019. He also served as General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Northern Command from 1 December 2016 to 31 May 2018. Harbaksh Singh
Lieutenant General Harbaksh Singh, VrC (1 October 1913 – 14 November 1999) was a senior General Officer in the Indian Army. As the Western Army Commander, Singh commanded the Indian Army forces and played a key role during the Indo-Pakistani War of 1965. For his role in the war, he was awarded the Padma Vibhushan in 1966. Early life and education Harbaksh Singh was born on 1 October 1913 in a wealthy peasant family, the youngest of seven siblings, in Badrukhan village near Sangrur, the capital of the Jind State. Lieutenant general (Lt Gen, LTG and similar) is a three-star military rank (NATO code OF-8) used in many countries. The rank traces its origins to the Middle Ages, where the title of lieutenant general was held by the second-in-command on the battlefield, who was normally subordinate to a captain general. In modern armies, lieutenant general normally ranks immediately below general and above major general; it is equivalent to the navy rank of vice admiral, and in air forces with a separate rank structure, it is equivalent to air marshal. General Manoj Pande, (born 6 May 1962) is an Indian Army General serving as the 29th and the current Chief of the Army Staff. He previously served as the Vice Chief of the Army Staff, General Officer-Commanding-in-Chief of Eastern Command and also as the Commander-in-Chief (CINCAN) of Andman and Nicobar Command. He is the first officer from the Corps of Engineers to become the Army Chief. Lieutenant General Sagat Singh, PVSM (14 July 1919 – 26 September 2001) was a General Officer in the Indian Army notable for his participation in liberation of Goa and later in Bangladesh. He held many commands and staff appointments throughout his military career. Early life and education Singh was born in a Rajput family in the village of Kusumdesar in Churu region of Bikaner State on 14 July 1919 to Brijlal Singh Rathore of Kusumdesar and a Bhati lady, Jadao Kanwar of Hadla.
