The discography of Canadian alternative rock band Barenaked Ladies consists of 14 primary studio albums, three themed studio albums, 41 singles, three live albums, two greatest hits compilations, and three video releases. This list does not include material recorded by band members individually or with other side projects. Barenaked Ladies was formed in 1988 by Steven Page and Ed Robertson, both singer-songwriter guitarists. Andy and Jim Creeggan joined the group on percussion and bass respectively approximately a year later. In mid-1990, Tyler Stewart joined the band as drummer with Andy Creeggan shifting to keyboards after returning from an exchange trip. Andy Creeggan left the band before the mid-1995 sessions for its third album (recorded as a four-piece). He was replaced by Kevin Hearn later on in 1995. Kevin Hearn
Kevin Neil Hearn (born July 3, 1969) is a Canadian musician who is a member of Barenaked Ladies, and his own group, Kevin Hearn and Thin Buckle. He primarily plays keyboards and guitars. He is also a member of Rheostatics. Early life Hearn was born to a relatively large family, and they lived in a small home in Grimsby, Ontario, Canada. He recalls buying the Beatles' ''Magical Mystery Tour'' and a Beach Boys greatest hits record, and having them become his first two favourite albums, which led him to an interest in performing music. He has also cited electronic band Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark (OMD), and folk punk group Violent Femmes, as formative influences. Hearn has a classical piano background. He attended Inglenook Community High School. He also attended St. Michael's Choir School. Career Hearn joined Look People in 1988 and played with the band until their break-up in 1993. The Canadian alternative rock band Barenaked Ladies released five demo tapes before being signed to Reprise Records. ''Buck Naked'' ''Buck Naked'' is the Barenaked Ladies' first indie demo tape release, and featured only the original duo of Steven Page and Ed Robertson. The first known tape was released in 1988 (though most were released in 1989). There are four known editions of this tape, each with different track listings. The earliest version, dating from "Fall 1988", features five songs. Its cover is different from later versions: It is green with the faces of Page and Robertson pasted onto photos of Terence Trent D'Arby. This edition of the tape is very rare. The second, third and fourth editions feature a white cover with a black-and-white photo of Page and Robertson. The second edition has thirteen songs including a five-second outro track called "How's The Level?" Gordon (album)
''Gordon'' is the debut studio album by Canadian band Barenaked Ladies. It was released through Sire Records on July 28, 1992. After ''The Yellow Tape'' was certified platinum in Canada, the group won a contest hosted by a local radio station. With the winnings, Barenaked Ladies were able to hire producer Michael Phillip Wojewoda and record the album at Le Studio, north of Montreal, Quebec, Chalet Recording Studios, and Reaction Studios (both in Ontario). Though most of the album was recorded without incident, difficulty with "The King of Bedside Manor" caused the band to record the track naked—a tradition they would continue on other albums. Horn section, Horn parts, guest vocalists, and nods to other bands including Rush (band), Rush allowed Barenaked Ladies to expand on the sound they had developed while touring. The ''Billboard'' 200 is a record chart ranking the 200 most popular music albums and EPs in the United States. It is published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine and is frequently used to convey the popularity of an artist or groups of artists. The chart grew from a weekly top 10 list in 1956 to become a top 200 list in May 1967, and acquired its current name in March 1992. The Official Charts (legal name: The Official UK Charts Company Limited) is a British inter-professional organization that compiles various "official" record charts in the United Kingdom, Ireland and France. In the United Kingdom, its charts include ones for singles, albums and films, with the data compiled from a mixture of downloads, purchases (of physical media) and streaming. The OCC produces its charts by gathering and combining sales data from retailers through market researchers Kantar, and claims to cover 99% of the singles market and 95% of the album market, and aims to collect data from any retailer who sells more than 100 chart items per week. UK Albums Chart
The Official Albums Chart is a list of albums ranked by physical and digital sales and (from March 2015) audio streaming in the United Kingdom. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on UKChartsPlus as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. However, even though number 100 was classed as a hit album (as in the case of The Guinness Book of British Hit Albums) in the 1980s until January 1989, since the compilations were removed this definition was changed to Top 75 with follow-up books such as The Virgin Book of British Hit Albums book only including this data. The Official New Zealand Music Chart ( mi, Te Papa Tātai Waiata Matua o Aotearoa) is the weekly New Zealand top 40 singles and albums charts, issued weekly by Recorded Music NZ (formerly Recording Industry Association of New Zealand). The Music Chart also includes the top-20 New Zealand artist singles and albums and top 10 compilation albums. All charts are compiled from data of both physical and digital sales from music retailers in New Zealand. Methodology The singles chart is currently sales and streaming data of songs. Barenaked Ladies is a Canadian rock band formed in 1988 in the Toronto suburb of Scarborough, Ontario. The band developed a following in Canada, with their self-titled 1991 cassette becoming the first independent release to be certified gold in Canada. They reached mainstream success in Canada when their debut with Reprise Records, '' Gordon'', featuring the singles " If I Had $1000000" and "Brian Wilson", was released in 1992.
