The ISU Junior Grand Prix in the United States is an international figure skating competition. Sanctioned by the International Skating Union, it is held in the autumn in some years as part of the JGP series. ISU Junior Grand Prix
The ISU Junior Grand Prix of Figure Skating (titled the ISU Junior Series in the 1997–98 season) is a series of international junior-level competitions organized by the International Skating Union. Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The series was inaugurated in 1997 to complement the senior-level ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating. Skaters earn qualifying points at each Junior Grand Prix event and the six highest-ranking qualifiers meet at the ISU Junior Grand Prix Final, which is held concurrently with the Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final. Parker Pennington
Parker Blair Pennington (born September 13, 1984) is an American figure skater. He won silver medals at the 2006 Nebelhorn Trophy and 2007 Finlandia Trophy, three gold medals on the JGP series, and bronze at the 2002 JGP Final. Pennington won U.S. national titles on four levels—junior (2001), novice (1998), intermediate (1996), and juvenile (1995). Personal life Pennington was born on September 13, 1984 in Hartford, Connecticut. He graduated from Lakewood High School in 2003. His younger brother, Colin, is the 2003 national novice champion in men's singles. In 2008, he began studying part-time at Baldwin-Wallace College while still competing. Ross Miner
Ross Miner (born January 24, 1991) is an American skating coach and retired competitive figure skater. He is the 2012 Four Continents bronze medalist, 2009 JGP Final bronze medalist, 2013 and 2018 U.S. national silver medalist and 2009 U.S. junior champion. In 2021, Miner was suspended from coaching for six months by the United States Center for SafeSport, for sexual harassment. Personal life Ross Miner was born in Burlington, Vermont. The 2009–10 ISU Junior Grand Prix was the 13th season of the ISU Junior Grand Prix, a series of international junior level competitions organized by the International Skating Union. It was the Junior-level complement to the 2009–10 ISU Grand Prix of Figure Skating, which is for Senior-level skaters. Skaters competed in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dance. Skaters earned points towards qualification at each of the seven Junior Grand Prix events. The top eight skaters/teams in the series from each discipline met at the Junior Grand Prix Final, which was held concurrently with the senior Grand Prix Final. Austin Kanallakan
Austin Kanallakan (born May 23, 1991) is an American former competitive figure skater. He won three gold medals on the ISU Junior Grand Prix series and silver at the 2006 JGP Final. In his first year on the JGP circuit, Kanallakan qualified for the Junior Grand Prix Final, where he placed second. He qualified twice more for the event but did not make the podium again. At the 2007 U.S. Championships, he overcame a poor result in the short program to win the free skate and claim the bronze medal on the junior level. Armin Mahbanoozadeh
Armin Mahbanoozadeh (born August 15, 1991) is an Iranian American former competitive figure skater. He is the 2010 Skate America bronze medalist and the 2012 U.S. national pewter medalist. He is also a two-time ISU Junior Grand Prix Final medalist ( 2008 silver, 2007 bronze) and the 2007 U.S. novice champion. Personal life Armin Mahbanoozadeh was born on August 15, 1991, in Alexandria, Virginia. He is a classically trained pianist. His surname means "born from a lady as beautiful as the moon" in Persian. Mahbanoozadeh graduated from Langley High School in 2009 and was accepted to Dartmouth College but ultimately gave up his spot due to his training. Lake Placid is a village in the Adirondack Mountains in Essex County, New York, United States. As of the 2020 census, the population was 2,303. Christopher Mabee
Christopher Mabee (born August 26, 1985) is a Canadian retired competitive figure skater. He is the 2007 Canadian national silver medalist. He announced his retirement from competitive skating in December, 2008. Early career Christopher Mabee was born in Tillsonburg, Ontario. He began skating at age seven. Mabee was coached by Paul Wirtz for a year in Montreal but, after being injured in 1998, he moved back home to be closer to his family. Mabee then trained at the Mariposa School of Skating in Barrie, Ontario, under Lee Barkell and Doug Leigh. Mabee won the silver medal on the novice level at nationals in 1998. He was sent to the Triglav Trophy that year and placed 5th on the novice level. Mabee went junior the next season and placed 4th at nationals in 1999.
