IMOCA 60 Paprec 6
Paprec Arkéa (6) is an IMOCA 60 monohull sailing yacht, designed by Antoine Koch and Finot-Conqm built by Multiplast in France, and launched on 22 February 2023. It is designed for the Vendée Globe 2024, a non-stop, round the world solo race. Its skipper is the French offshore sailor Yoann Richomme. Design Sister-ship to For People. The boat features a fully enclosed cockpit with a shock absorbing seat. The hull is optimized for the downwind conditions of the southern ocean, but maintaining a slim design. Group Finot is a French boat design company based in Jouy-en-Josas. Founded by Jean-Marie Finot, the company specializes in the design of fiberglass sailboats. The company also collaborates with designer Pascal Conq as ''Groupe Finot - Conq'', based in Vannes, France. History The company was founded by Finot in 1969 when he designed his first boat, the International Offshore Rule Quarter Ton class champion Ecume de Mer (''Sea Foam'') that was built by Chantier Malliard. Retour à La Base
The Retour à la base, formerly Transat B to B (short for "back to Brittany") is a transatlantic single-handed yacht race exclusive to IMOCA 60 yachts, which first took place in 2007. It was introduced as a return race from destination of the Transat Jacques Vabre to Brittany, Metropolitan France, home to most IMOCA teams. Since its introduction it was held every four years in the year before the Vendée Globe except 2019. A crewed edition was planned for 2021 but was cancelled later. The Fastnet Race is a biennial offshore yacht race organised by the Royal Ocean Racing Club of the United Kingdom with the assistance of the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes and the City of Cherbourg in France. The Transat Jacques Vabre is a yachting race that follows the historic coffee trading route between France and Brazil. It is named after (and sponsored by) a French brand of coffee. The course was drawn up back in 1993 to follow in the wake of the clippers transporting coffee from Brazil to France. The Transat Jacques Vabre is a major date on the calendar, taking place every other year in odd years. The IMOCA ("Open 60"), is a 60ft development class monohull sailing yacht administered by the International Monohull Open Class Association (IMOCA). Class description This class is of "open" design, this means the boat is measurement controlled and therefore designers have freedom within the rules.
