IL Gular
Idrottslaget Gular is a Norwegian athletics club from Bergen, founded in 1946. In the past it has had sections for handball, skiing, gymnastics and football. The athletics section cooperates on youth level with local clubs Bergens TF and TIL Hovding, which act as feeder teams. Its most prominent members are long-distance runners Arne Risa, Arne Hamarsland and athlete Knut Hjeltnes. Fana Stadion
Fana stadion is a multi-use stadium at Rådal in the borough of Fana in Bergen, Norway. Used for football matches, it is the home ground of Second Division team Fana IL. Bergens Turnforening, often shortened to Bergens Turn is a Norwegian sports club from Bergen, founded in 1882. It has sections for athletics, orienteering, gymnastics and rhythmic gymnastics. The biggest international success has come in gymnastics, where the club had multiple Olympic champions before the Second World War. Arne Risa (born 5 May 1944) is a former Norwegian long-distance runner who specialized in 3000 metres steeplechase and 10,000 metres. He represented IL Gular. At the 1968 Summer Olympics, he finished eighth in the 3000 m SC final in 9:09.98 minutes. He finished sixth at the 1969 European Championships. He was the Norwegian champion in 1968 and 1969. Arne Hamarsland (born 24 July 1933) is a Norwegian middle-distance runner who specialized in 1500 metres. He represented IL Gular. At the 1960 Summer Olympics he finished ninth in the 1500 m final in 3:45.0 minutes. He also competed at the 1958 European Championships without reaching the final. He became Norwegian champion in 800 m in 1960 and 1961 and in 1500 m in the years 1955–1956, 1959-1961 and 1963. Knut Hjeltnes (athlete)
Knut Hjeltnes (born December 8, 1951) is a former college coach and track & field athlete from Norway. Hjeltnes, who was born in Øystese, has won 20 National Championships; 11 in Discus throw, in 1975, 1976, 1978, 1980–84, 1986, 1988, and 1989; and 9 in Shot Put, in 1975–1978 and 1980–1984. Hjeltnes was ranked 2nd through 7th in the world in the discus for twelve years from 1976–1988. He still holds the Norwegian national record in discus with 69.62 meters (228 feet, 5 inches), achieved in 1985. Diane Dolores Modahl (née Edwards, born 17 June 1966) is an English former middle distance runner who specialised in the 800 metres. She won Gold in the 800 m title at the 1990 Commonwealth Games, Silver at the 1986 Commonwealth Games, and Bronze at the 1998 Commonwealth Games. Her other notable results include finishing third at the 1989 IAAF Grand Prix Final, fourth at the 1993 World Championships, and winning the European Cup in 1994.
