ILR Review
''Industrial and Labor Relations Review'' (ILR Review) is a publication of the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. It is an interdisciplinary journal publishing original research on all aspects of industrial relations. The editors are Rosemary Batt and Lawrence M. Kahn (Cornell University). The target audience is composed of academics and practitioners in labor and employment relations. The review covers economics of the workplace, work-life issues, collective bargaining and contract administration, union governance and reform, dispute resolution, history of the labor movement, union organizing, law and other issues. It publishes approximately 25 book reviews each year. It was founded in 1947. Starting in 2014, SAGE Publications took over publication and increased the frequency from quarterly to five per year. Business
Business is the practice of making one's living or making money by producing or Trade, buying and selling Product (business), products (such as goods and Service (economics), services). Having a business name does not separate the business entity from the owner, which means that the owner of the business is responsible and liable for debts incurred by the business. A trade union (labor union in American English), often simply referred to as a union, is an organization of workers intent on "maintaining or improving the conditions of their employment", ch. The ''Cornell HR Review'' (CHRR) was an online journal of human resource management articles published independently by graduate students at Cornell University. The publication ran from 2009 to 2019. History The ''Cornell HR Review'' published its first article on December 21, 2009, and was the oldest operating student-edited human resources publication in the United States. It was founded by Cornell graduate student Jonathan E. DeGraff, with the financial support of Harry C. Katz, dean of the Cornell University School of Industrial and Labor Relations. CHRR is digitally archived by Cornell's Martin P. Catherwood Library and is indexed by Princeton University Library and the National Library of Australia. Collective bargaining is a process of negotiation between employers and a group of employees aimed at agreements to regulate working salaries, working conditions, benefits, and other aspects of workers' compensation and rights for workers. The interests of the employees are commonly presented by representatives of a trade union to which the employees belong. The collective agreements reached by these negotiations usually set out wage scales, working hours, training, health and safety, overtime, grievance mechanisms, and rights to participate in workplace or company affairs.
