The IFF World Ranking is a ranking of the national teams of member countries of the International Floorball Federation. Ranking system The ranking is based on the standings of the two most recent Floorball World Championships. International Floorball Federation
The International Floorball Federation (IFF) is the worldwide governing body for the sport of floorball. It was founded on 12 April 1986 in Huskvarna, Sweden, by representatives from the national floorball associations of Finland, Sweden and Switzerland. It is recognized by the IOC and is an ordinary member of the ARISF. Floorball
Floorball is a type of floor hockey with five players and a goalkeeper in each team. Men and women play indoors with sticks and a plastic ball with holes. Matches are played in three twenty-minute periods. The sport of bandy also played a role in the game's development. The game was invented in Sweden in the late 1960s. The basic rules were established in 1979 when the first floorball club in the world, Sala IBK, from Sala, Sweden, Sala, was founded in Sweden. Official rules for matches were first written down in 1981. The sport is organized internationally by the International Floorball Federation (IFF). As of 2019, there were about 377,000 registered floorball players worldwide, up from around 300,000 in 2014. 2018 Men's World Floorball Championships
The 2018 Men's World Floorball Championships were the 12th World Championships in men's floorball. The tournament took place in Prague, Czech Republic, from 1 to 9 December 2018. WFC 2018 Qualification 33 teams have registered for the 12th IFF Men’s World Floorball Championships, only 16 of them to reach the final group consisted of 16 teams. Host country, Czech Republic, qualifies automatically. In Europe, there were four qualification groups with three event locations – Tallinn (Estonia), Nitra (Slovakia) and Valmiera ( Latvia). The Asia-Oceania group tournament took place in Jeju Island, South Korea. It was the first IFF event hosted by Korea. USA and Canada played their qualification in Toronto, Canada. 2020 Men's World Floorball Championships
The 2020 Men's World Floorball Championships was the 13th World Championships in men's floorball. The tournament took place in Helsinki, Finland, during 3–11 December 2021. The tournament was originally intended to be played between 4–12 December 2020, but on 7 December 2020, it was announced it would be rescheduled one year into the future because of to the Coronavirus pandemic. WFC 2020 qualification 35 teams registered for the 13th IFF Men's World Floorball Championships. 16 qualified reach to the final championship. Host country, Finland, qualified automatically. Though they did not ultimately qualify, Côte d'Ivoire became the first ever team from Africa to participate in the WFC Qualifiers. 2019 Women's World Floorball Championships
The 2019 IFF Women's World Floorball Championships was the 12th staging of the Women's World Floorball Championship, contested by the senior women's national teams of the members of the ''International Floorball Federation'' (IFF), the sport's global governing body. The final tournament took place in Neuchâtel, Switzerland from 7 to 15 December 2019. Switzerland played hosts for this event for the third time. Sweden won the tournament defeating Switzerland, 3–2, in the final game. Champions Cup (floorball)
The Champions Cup is floorball tournament organized by the International Floorball Federation for the best clubs from the top four countries according to IFF World Ranking. As of 2023, those are Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic and Switzerland, both for men and women. The tournament takes place every year in January both for men's and women's teams, that won in the previous season in their national leagues. Those are Finnish F-liiga, Swedish Svenska Superligan, Czech men's Superliga florbalu and women's Extraliga žen ve florbale and Swiss Unihockey Prime League. That means, there are eight teams in the tournament in total. Since 2024, winners of national cups will also attend. The competing countries alternate in hosting the tournament. The event lasts two days. In various formats, the tournament took place 28 times, the last time in 2023. The first tournament was played in 1993. The current format for four teams is used since 2019.
