Altenberg Bobsleigh, Luge, And Skeleton Track
The Altenberg bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton track is a venue in Germany for bobsleigh, luge, and skeleton (sport), skeleton. Located in Saxony in eastern Germany, it is northwest of Altenberg, Saxony, Altenberg, near the border with the Czech Republic. Jane Channell
Jane Channell (born August 23, 1988) is a Canadian skeleton racer who has competed since 2011 and was selected to the national team in 2013, joining the Skeleton World Cup squad in 2015. Channell was inspired to try skeleton by Jon Montgomery's gold medal at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Before skeleton, Channell played softball and competed in track and field, winning the Great Northwest Athletic Conference indoor track titles in 60 metres and 200 metres. Channell was named one of the three women to represent Canada in skeleton at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang after finishing fifth in both the overall and World Cup standings for the 2017–18 season. In January 2022, Channell was named to Canada's 2022 Olympic team. Kim Meylemans (born 7 March 1996) is a German-born Belgian skeleton racer who competes on the Skeleton World Cup. After starting out in football, she began competing in skeleton in 2009 and was selected to the German national team in 2013. In the 2014–15 season, she moved to the Belgian national team. She is coached by Fernando Oliva (personal coach) and Martin Rettl (team coach), and rides a Schneider sled. Elisabeth Maier (née Vathje) (born March 17, 1994, in Calgary, Alberta) is a retired Canadian skeleton racer. In 2008, she was encouraged to try sliding sports by her father, who had shared an airplane trip with members of the Canadian luge team, but as a 14-year-old, she was too young to train bobsleigh, so she tried out for skeleton instead. She used a Bromley sled. Marcus Wyatt (born Honiton, Devon, England) is a British skeleton racer who represents the United Kingdom in the Men's Singles event in the Skeleton World Cup. He is the 2024 IBSF European Champion, succeeding his countryman Matt Weston. He finished in the sixth position in the final standing of the 2018-19 Skeleton World Cup.
