I.O.O.F. Hall (Dunlap, Iowa)
The former I.O.O.F. Hall, located at 613-615 Iowa Avenue in the original commercial block of Dunlap, Harrison County, Iowa, is an historic two-story pedimented red-brick building built for local members of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. Also known as the Odd Fellows Hall, it was used by Golden Rule Lodge No. 178, IOOF founded in 1869 and Guiding Star Encampment No. 68, IOOF, a higher body founded in 1874. Like many American lodge halls of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, it had business and commercial space on the ground floor while the lodge hall was upstairs. In 2009 it was renovated for its owner Brad Gross, CPA, who now uses it for his professional office. On June 23, 2011, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places. Dunlap, Iowa
Dunlap is a city in Harrison County, Iowa, Harrison and Crawford County, Iowa, Crawford counties, Iowa, United States, along the Boyer River. The population was 1,038 at the time of the 2020 United States census, 2020 census. History Dunlap was platted in 1867, and it was incorporated in 1871. The city was named for George L. Dunlap, General Superintendent of the Chicago and North Western Transportation Company, Chicago & North Western railroad. The location of Dunlap was within the final 50 miles of the railroad's Council Bluffs goal, connecting with the Union Pacific's transcontinental railroad building from Omaha. By January 1867, the engineering had been completed to Council Bluffs and by April 30 the first trains would be able to run all the way through, making this the first uninterrupted rail connection with the East.
