I'll Carry You In My Arms (1958 Film)
''I'll Carry You in My Arms'' or ''I'll Carry You on My Hands'' (german: Ich werde dich auf Händen tragen) is a 1958 West German drama film directed by Veit Harlan and starring Kristina Söderbaum, Hans Holt and Hans Nielsen. It was based on the novella ''Viola Tricolor'' by Theodor Storm, which had previously been made in 1937 as ''Serenade''. It was the final film of Harlan's career.Noack p.392 The film's sets were designed by the art director Ernst H. Albrecht. It was shot using Agfacolor at the Pichelberg Studios in Berlin and on location in Florence and Holstein. Veit Harlan
Veit Harlan (22 September 1899 – 13 April 1964) was a German film director and actor. Harlan reached the highpoint of his career as a director in the Nazi era; most notably his antisemitic film ''Jud Süß'' (1940) makes him controversial. While viewed critically for his ideologies, a number of critics consider him a capable director on the grounds of such work as his ''Opfergang'' (1944). Life and career Harlan was born in Berlin, the son of the writer Walter Harlan and his wife Adele, nee Boothby. His elder brother Peter was a multi-instrumentalist and musical instrument maker. After studying under Max Reinhardt, he first appeared on the stage in 1915 and, after World War I, worked in the Berlin stage. In 1934 he starred in the Berlin premiere of Eugen Ortner's tragedy '' Meier Helmbrecht'', but it was a critical disaster and he later described it as his lowest point as an actor. Malte Richard Friedrich Jaeger (sometimes named in cast lists as Malte Jäger) (4 July 1911 in Hannover – 10 January 1991 at Ladelund / district of North Friesland) was a German actor, theater director and voice actor. Monika Dahlberg (born 30 April 1936) is a German singer, and film and television actress. She studied in Kiel as an actress and opera singer. In 1957 she signed a three-year contract with Constantin Film, and featured in several comedies and heimatfilm. From the 1960s onwards she increasingly appeared on television as well.
