''Hái!'' is the fourth and final studio album released in 2003 by British duo the Creatures, composed of Siouxsie Sioux and Budgie. The album was recorded in two parts: the drums were recorded by Budgie and Kodo drummer Leonard Eto in Tokyo in August 2002 and the rest of the recording was done in Europe. During their stay in Japan, the band was inspired and "touched by the delicate snowfall imagery of Akira Kurosawa's ''Ikiru'' (1952), absorbing the vibrancy of Tokyo's Roppongi district, and spiritualised by the ancient Shinto shrines and tranquil shores of Lake Ashi." Mantaray (album)
''Mantaray'' is the debut solo album by English singer Siouxsie. It was released in September 2007 by W14 Music on Universal Records, four years after the final album of the Creatures, ''Hái!''. After her first solo tour in 2004, Siouxsie wanted to collaborate with other musicians. She met Steve Evans and Charlie Jones, both of them arranged the songs and produced the record. Upon release, ''Mantaray'' was well received by critics, with praise focused on Siouxsie's voice and the different compositional styles. In May 2023, a newly remastered version of ''Mantaray'' will be reissued on CD. Background After the success of her first solo release, the live DVD ''Dreamshow'', which reached the No. 1 position in the UK chart in August 2005, Siouxsie received demos from several composers. It was produced by the duo and was the lead single from their fourth and final album, '' Hái!''. The single was released on three separate CDs. CD 1 included "Godzilla! (Radio Edit)" and two B-sides, "The Temple of Dawn" and "Attack of the Super Vixens." CD 2 was a VCD and included videos for "Godzilla!" and "Godzilla! (Instrumental)". CD 3 included "Godzilla! Budgie (drummer)
Peter Edward Clarke (born 21 August 1957), known professionally as Budgie, is an English drummer best known as the drummer in Siouxsie and the Banshees. He is also the co-founder of the Creatures. He was the drummer of the Slits in 1979. He was then a member of the band Siouxsie and the Banshees from 1979 to 1996. Budgie worked with other musicians including John Cale, Leonard Eto (formerly of the Kodo Drummers), John Grant and Anohni with Hercules and Love Affair. ''Spin'' rated him at No. 28 in their list of "The 100 Greatest Drummers of Alternative Music", writing: "Post-punk introduced a lot of amazing drummers, but none more influential than Budgie. Siouxsie Sioux
Susan Janet Ballion (born 27 May 1957), known professionally as Siouxsie Sioux, is an English singer, songwriter, musician and record producer. She was the lead singer of the rock band Siouxsie and the Banshees (1976–1996). They released 11 studio albums, and had several UK Top 20 singles including " Hong Kong Garden", "Happy House" and " Peek-a-Boo", plus a US ''Billboard'' Top 25 hit, " Kiss Them for Me". Siouxsie also formed a second group, the Creatures (1981–2005). With the Creatures she recorded four studio albums and the hit single " Right Now". ''Anima Animus'' is the third studio album by British duo the Creatures, consisting of Siouxsie Sioux and musician Budgie, released in 1999. The title of the album was inspired by Carl Jung's concept of anima and animus ("the woman inside the man, the man inside the woman"). Recorded in France and England, the album was a departure from previous Creatures works. While still retaining a percussive element, the music had a more urban sound. Upon its release, the record was well received by critics. ''Feast'' is the debut studio album by British duo the Creatures, composed of Siouxsie Sioux and musician Budgie, then-members of the band Siouxsie and the Banshees. It reached No. 17 in the UK Albums Chart and the "Miss the Girl" single peaked at No. 21. With their first album, the band embraced exotica, including "waves crashing on beaches", "found-sound effects from nature" and local Hawaiian chanters. Critic Ned Raggett described it as "a lush, tropical experience". Recording and music Siouxsie and Budgie decided where to record the album by randomly placing a pin on a map of the world; the result was the U.S. state of Hawaii.
