"Hypnotize" is a single by American rapper The Notorious B.I.G. featuring vocals by Pamela Long, released as the first single from his album ''Life After Death'' on March 4, 1997. The last song released before his death in a drive-by shooting a week later, it was the fifth song by a credited artist to hit number one posthumously, and the first since " (Just Like) Starting Over" by John Lennon and Yoko Ono in 1980. ''Rolling Stone'' ranked the song as number 30 on their list of the "100 Greatest Hip-Hop Songs of All Time". Background P. Herb Alpert (born March 31, 1935) is an American trumpeter who led the band Herb Alpert & the Tijuana Brass in the 1960s. During the same decade, he co-founded A&M Records with Jerry Moss. Alpert has recorded 28 albums that have landed on the ''Billboard'' 200 chart, five of which became No. 1 albums; he has had 14 platinum albums and 15 gold albums. The ''Billboard'' Hot 100 is the music industry standard record chart in the United States for songs, published weekly by '' Billboard'' magazine. Chart rankings are based on sales (physical and digital), radio play, and online streaming in the United States. Total is an American R&B girl group and one of the signature acts of the Bad Boy Records imprint during the early 1990s. The group consists of founding members Kima Raynor, Keisha Spivey, and Pamela Long. Total is best known for their feature on Mase's " What You Want", as well as their hits "Kissin' You", " Can't You See" (featuring The Notorious B.I.G.), and " What About Us?" and "Trippin'", both featuring Missy Elliott. "La Di Da Di" is a song performed by Doug E. Fresh, who provides the beatboxed instrumental, and MC Ricky D (later known as Slick Rick), who performs the vocals.
