Hwang Hee-tae
Hwang Hee-Tae (born June 12, 1978 in Sinan County, Jeollanam-do) is a male South Korean Judoka. He won a gold medal in the men's -90 kg division at the 2003 World Judo Championships in Osaka, Japan, by defeating the 2004 Olympic champion Zurab Zviadauri from Georgia in the final. Hwang also won a gold medal at the Doha Asian Games in 2006. At the Olympics, he competed in the -90 kg division in 2004, losing to Hiroshi Izumi in the semi-finals and then to Khasanbi Taov in the bronze medal bout. In 2012, he competed in the -100 kg division, where he again reached the semi-final, this time losing Tuvshinbayar Naidan. Hwang (Korean Name)
Hwang or Whang (or in some cases, Whong) is a Korean family name. Today, Hwangs comprise approximately 1.4% of the Korean population. The South Korean census in the year 2000 found that there were 644,294 Hwangs with over 68 Bon-gwan family clans, making it the 16th most common last name in the country. Zurab Zviadauri
Zurab Zviadauri (born July 2, 1981) is a Georgian judoka who competed in the Men's 90 kg at the 2004 Summer Olympics and won the gold medal, the first for Georgia. He is a scholarship holder with the Olympic Solidarity program. He also won two silver medals on world championships (in 2001 and in 2003) and a bronze on European championship in 2002. Zvidauri is also signed to mixed martial arts-promotion World Victory Road, but has yet to make his MMA-debut. In 2012, he was elected to the Parliament of Georgia for the Akhmeta Municipality on a Georgian Dream coalition ticket. International Judo Federation
The International Judo Federation (IJF) was founded in July 1951. The IJF was originally composed of judo federations from Europe and Argentina. Countries from four continents were affiliated over the next ten years. Today the IJF has 200 National Federations on all continents. There are over 20 million people around the globe who practice judo, according to the IJF.
