Huh Young-ja
Introduction Huh Young-ja (born in 1938) is a Korean female poet. She is called "The Poet of Love and Moderation,"embodying Oriental lyricism such as han''(resentment)', love and waiting in a highly condensed beauty. She is regarded as a unique poet who combines traditional and modern sentiments. Life Huh was born on August 31, 1938, in Hamyang, South Gyeongsang Province. She graduated from Gyeonggi Girls' High School and Sookmyung Women's University. She had her childhood during the Korean War and began reading books as a way of overcoming harsh realities. She mainly read classical Korean literature, the collected works of world literature and Korean literature, etc. In 1961, she debuted with ''Dojeongyeonga'' (도정연가 Journey Sonata)'','' published in ''Modern Literature'' at the recommendation of Park Mok-wol. ''Han'', or ''haan'', is a concept of an emotion, variously described as some form of grief or resentment, among others, that is said to be an essential element of Korean identity by some, and a modern post-colonial identity by others. Sookmyung Women’s University () is a private university in Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea. Founded in 1906, Sookmyung is Korea’s first royal private educational institution for women. Korean Literature
Korean literature is the body of literature produced by Koreans, mostly in the Korean language and sometimes in Classical Chinese. Society Of Korean Poets
The Society of Korean Poets () is a literary organization established in 1957. It is the oldest active poetry organization in South Korea. Every year, the organization awards the Society of Korean Poets Award, and holds the National High School Students' Literary Prize. Today it has 1,500 members. The current president is Choi Dong-ho.
