Hove, South Australia
Hove is a coastal suburb of Adelaide, South Australia. It is situated north of Brighton, west of Warradale, and south of North Brighton. Running along the west of the suburb is the Esplanade, a street with numerous townhouses with views of the Gulf St Vincent. The suburb is bisected by its major thoroughfare, Brighton Road. Property prices are generally higher on the coastal side of Brighton Road. Public transport The Seaford railway line serves most of the suburb's public transport needs with the Hove railway station situated just off Brighton Road. The 262, 263, and 265 bus routes which run from the Adelaide CBD to Westfield Marion via Glenelg also serve the suburb. Electoral District Of Gibson
Gibson is a single-member electoral district for the South Australian House of Assembly. It was created by the redistribution conducted in 2016, and was contested for the first time at the 2018 state election. It replaced the former seat of Bright. Gibson lies southwest of the Adelaide city centre and includes the suburbs of Brighton, Dover Gardens, Hove, Marion, North Brighton, Oaklands Park, Seacombe Gardens, South Brighton, Sturt, Warradale and the southern portion of Somerton Park. The Parliament of South Australia is the bicameral legislature of the Australian state of South Australia. It consists of the 47-seat House of Assembly ( lower house) and the 22-seat Legislative Council (upper house). Corey Wingard
Corey Luke Wingard is a former Australian politician. He was a Liberal member of the South Australian House of Assembly from the 2014 state election, representing Mitchell until 2018 and Gibson until his defeat in 2022. Wingard served as the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing in the Marshall Ministry from 2018 to 2022. He previously served as the Minister for Police, Emergency Services and Correctional Services. Following a Cabinet reshuffle on 28 July 2020, Wingard was appointed the Minister for Infrastructure and Transport, and was sworn in on the following day. Wingard previously was a journalist and sports presenter, ran a media advice company, and worked for senator Sean Edwards. Glenelg, South Australia
Glenelg is a beach-side suburb of the South Australian capital of Adelaide. Located on the shore of Holdfast Bay in Gulf St Vincent, it has become a tourist destination due to its beach and many attractions, home to several hotels and dozens of restaurants. Established in 1836, it is the oldest European settlement on mainland South Australia. It was named after Lord Glenelg, a member of British Cabinet and Secretary of State for War and the Colonies. Through Lord Glenelg the name derives from Glenelg, Highland, Scotland. Hove Railway Station, Adelaide
Hove railway station is located on the Seaford line. Situated in the south-western Adelaide suburb of Hove, it is 14.6 kilometres from Adelaide station. History Hove was opened on 12 January 1914, and originally as North Brighton Station. In April 1914, not long after opening, the station was renamed Middle Brighton Station. Later in 1914, an electric light was installed to replace the previous oil lamp. As it was an unmanned station at the time, the light was switched on by a guard on the passing train at sundown, and off by the guard on the last train for the night. A ticket office was added to the platform in mid-1915. In 1920, the Railways Commissioner suggested the station should be renamed to Tingara Station, however the Brighton Council preferred Hove. Seaford Railway Line
The Seaford railway line is a suburban commuter line in Adelaide, South Australia. History Before the extension of the line to Noarlunga Centre in 1978, the Willunga line ran from Hallett Cove station on a different route through Reynella, Morphett Vale and Hackham to Willunga (south-east of Noarlunga). It closed in 1969 and in September 1972 a track-removal train removed the tracks, and for six years Noarlunga had no train service. The South Australian Railways and its successor, the State Transport Authority, extended the current railway southwards in stages from Hallett Cove to cater for increasing residential development in the southern area.
