Akram Al-Hawrani
Akram Al-Hourani ( ar, أَكْرَم الْحَوْرَانِي, ʾAkram al-Ḥawrānī, also transcribed El-Hourani, Howrani or Hurani) (November 1911 – 24 February 1996), was a Syrian politician who played a prominent role during the democratic era of Syria in the 1950s, he established and led the Arab Socialist Party. He was a highly influential figure in the Syrian politics from the beginning of the 1940s until his departure into exile in 1963, during this period he was able to introduce significant reforms towards more just and fairer society especially in relation to the agricultural sector and land redistribution against the feudal system. Al-Hourani held various positions as a member of the Syrian parliament, the head of the parliament, minister of agriculture, minister of defence, and the vice-president of the United Arab Republic. Albert Habib Hourani ( ar, ألبرت حبيب حوراني ''Albart Ḥabīb Ḥūrānī''; 31 March 1915 – 17 January 1993) was a Lebanese British historian, specialising in the history of the Middle East and Middle Eastern studies. George Fadlo Hourani (3 June 1913 – 19 September 1984) was a British philosopher, historian, and classicist. He is best known for his work in Islamic philosophy, which focused on classical Islamic rationalism and ethics. Hasan Hourani
Hasan (Hassan) Hourani ( ar, حسن حوراني, 1974 – August 6, 2003) was a Palestinian artist, born in Hebron, Palestine. He attended the College of Fine Art in Baghdad, Iraq from 1993-97. In 2001 he presented his one-man show "One Day, One Night" in the UN building in New York City. He then studied at the Art Students League of New York and continued to live in the city for several years. His work has been exhibited in Palestine, Iraq, Egypt, Jordan, South Korea, New York and Houston. In 2003, he returned home for a visit. Like nearly all West Bank Palestinians, he had been barred from traveling across the Green Line to see the sea for many years; but during this trip home, he was able to visit the Mediterranean shore. Youssef Hourany
Youssef Hourany (1931 – 19 October 2019) was a Lebanese writer, archeologist and historian. Hourany received his diploma in philosophy, from the Lebanese University, and his PhD on the ancient philosophy of history from The Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik ( ar, جامعة الروح القدس – الكسليك). Hourany taught ancient history in the Université Saint-Esprit de Kaslik from 1970 to 1977, and from 1977 to 1995 he taught philosophy and archeology in the Lebanese University, then he retired with professor grade. Dr. Eid Hourany (18 March 1940 – 17 November 2008) was a French and Lebanese nuclear physicist. He studied in the Science Faculty in the Lebanese University ( ar, كلية العلوم، الجامعة اللبنانية) at Hadath Beirut. He achieved his State PhD in France at the Institut of Nuclear Physics (french: Institut de Physique Nucléaire d'Orsay) at Orsay where he was coached by Dr Toshiko Yuasa. The Hauran ( ar, حَوْرَان, ''Ḥawrān''; also spelled ''Hawran'' or ''Houran'') is a region that spans parts of southern Syria and northern Jordan. It is bound in the north by the Ghouta oasis, eastwards by the al-Safa (Syria), al-Safa field, to the south by Jordan's desert steppe and to the west by the Golan Heights.
