Hotel Association Of Nepal
The Hotel association of Nepal (HAN) was established in 1966/67 for the welfare of hotel industry of Nepal. Tourism being a major source of income, HAN has been able to impact the policy of tourism industry of Nepal. The headquarter of the association is located in Gairidhara, Kathmandu. About NPR 250 billion has been invested in the hotel industry of Nepal providing 50,000 jobs across the country. HAN works to safeguard the interest of hotel entrepreneurs and its employees, thus has a significant impact on the economy of Nepal. It is considered as the first travel trade association of Nepal. HAN also formulates policies to maintain the standards of hotels running in Nepal. History The formal tourist accommodation development in Nepal started with the first five-year development plan in 1956. The Nepal Tourism Board (NTB) is the official national tourism organization of Nepal which works towards establishing Nepal as a premier holiday destination to the world. The Board provides platform for vision-drawn leadership for Nepal’s tourism sector by integrating Government commitment with the dynamism of private sector. Nepal Mountaineering Association
The Nepal Mountaineering Association (NMA) is the national mountaineering association of Nepal. The NMA was founded in 1973 with the goals of promoting mountaineering activities in the Himalaya, providing safety awareness and mountaineering skills to Nepalese mountaineers and creating awareness of the beauty of the Himalayas both nationally and in international communities. The NMA is an active member of the UIAA. The NMA was also responsible for administering climbing permits for 27 mountains with altitudes between 5,800 metres and 6,600 metres categorised as trekking peaks, while permits for all other mountains open for climbing in Nepal (approximately 300 peaks) are issued by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation (MoTCA).
