Hot Ticket
''Hot Ticket'' is a syndicated movie review and entertainment television program from 2001 to 2004. The half-hour show was hosted by Leonard Maltin and Todd Newton during its first season, and by Maltin and Joyce Kulhawik in seasons 2 and 3. It was distributed by Paramount Domestic Television. The show featured MTV-style fast cutting. For each movie, the hosts voted Hot or Not Hot or Not, currently rebranded as Chat & Date, is a rating site that allowed users to rate the attractiveness of photos submitted voluntarily by others. Leonard Maltin
Leonard Michael Maltin (born December 18, 1950) is an American film critic and film historian, as well as an author of several mainstream books on cinema, focusing on nostalgic, celebratory narratives. He is perhaps best known for his book of film capsule reviews, ''Leonard Maltin's Movie Guide'', published annually from 1969 to 2014. Early life Maltin was born in New York City, the son of singer Jacqueline ( née Gould; 1923–2012) and Aaron Isaac Maltin (1915–2002), a lawyer and immigration judge. Maltin was raised in a Jewish family in Teaneck, New Jersey. He graduated from Teaneck High School in 1968. Career Maltin began his writing career at age 15, writing for ''Classic Images'' and editing and publishing his own fanzine, ''Film Fan Monthly'', dedicated to films from the golden age of Hollywood. Todd Newton
James Todd Newton (born May 5, 1970) is an American entertainment reporter, game show host, and author. Career Newton started his entertainment career at age sixteen as a disc jockey for Kincaid Entertainment in St. Louis. Later, the company found a role for him on its popular KMOV children's television show Gator Tales. While visiting Los Angeles in 1994 to host a movie junket for St. Louis television station KPLR, Newton — then a top-rated radio personality known as Rikk Idol — used the last of his travel money to hire a taxi to take him to the offices of various agents around Hollywood. He eventually signed with Abrams, Rubaloff, & Lawrence and was tapped as a host on E! Entertainment Television in 1995. Joyce Kulhawik
Joyce Kulhawik ( ; born 1954) was the arts and entertainment anchor for CBS affiliate WBZ-TV News in Boston, Massachusetts. Early life and career Kulhawik joined WBZ-TV in 1978 as an associate producer and tipster for ''Evening Magazine''. In 1981 she became the station's arts and entertainment reporter and played a key role in the public service campaign, “You Gotta Have Arts!” As part of the campaign, Kulhawik hosted the station's Emmy Award-winning “You Gotta Have Arts!” magazine program during its one-year run, as well as three specials, the first of which received an Emmy Award in 1982. Paramount Domestic Television (PDT) was the television distribution arm of American television production company Paramount Television, once the TV arm of Paramount Pictures. Fast Cutting
Fast cutting is a film editing technique which refers to several consecutive shots of a brief duration (e.g. 3 seconds or less). It can be used to quickly convey much information, or to imply either energy or chaos. Fast cutting is also frequently used when shooting dialogue between two or more characters, changing the viewer's perspective to either focus on the reaction of another character's dialog, or to bring to attention the non-verbal actions of the speaking character. One famous example of fast cutting is the shower scene in Alfred Hitchcock's film '' Psycho'' (1960). More recent examples include the can-can scene in Baz Luhrmann's ''Moulin Rouge!'' (2001).
