Hospital People
''Hospital People'' is a BBC One Mockumentary series set in the fictional Brimlington Hospital in the fictional town of Brimlington. The main star of the programme is Tom Binns who plays four different characters in the series. He has a supporting cast of another three actors with guest stars filling in the other roles on an episode-by-episode basis. A pilot episode was shown on BBC One in February 2016, from which a whole series was commissioned and then broadcast in 2017. Premise The mockumentary focuses upon the day-to-day running of a hospital set on the coast of Yorkshire. Tom Binns, the co-creator, co-writer and main star of the programme, has said it is based on where he is from on the Yorkshire/Derbyshire border but also on the coast as it is fictional. Mockumentary
A mockumentary (a blend of ''mock'' and ''documentary''), fake documentary or docu-comedy is a type of film or television show depicting fictional events but presented as a documentary. These productions are often used to analyze or comment on current events and issues by using a fictional setting, or to parody the documentary form itself. While mockumentaries are usually comedic, pseudo-documentaries are their dramatic equivalents. However, pseudo-documentary should not be confused with docudrama, a fictional genre in which dramatic techniques are combined with documentary elements to depict real events. Hartlepool
Hartlepool () is a seaside and port town in County Durham, England. It is the largest settlement and administrative centre of the Borough of Hartlepool. With an estimated population of 90,123, it is the second-largest settlement in County Durham. University Hospital Of Hartlepool
The University Hospital of Hartlepool is a general hospital in Hartlepool, England. It provides healthcare to people living in southeast Durham. It is managed by the North Tees and Hartlepool NHS Foundation Trust. History The hospital has its origins in an infirmary which was built for the Hartlepool Union Workhouse and which opened at Holdforth Road in 1889. The infirmary suffered fire damage during a bombardment on 16 December 1914 during the First World War. It became known as the Howbeck Infirmary in 1925. It also suffered bomb damage on the night of 7/8 July 1942 during the Second World War. The Duchess of Kent opened the new Hartlepool General Hospital on the same site in 1972.
