Seguin is a township in central Ontario, Canada, in the District of Parry Sound. History The Township of Seguin was created by Minister's Order, dated May 8, 1997. Pursuant to this Order, the Township of Seguin became a newly incorporated municipality, effective January 1, 1998. The Township of Seguin is the amalgamated municipality of the former Townships of Christie, Foley and Humphrey, and the Village of Rosseau as well as an annexation of the western portion of the unorganized Township of Monteith. The township The Township of Seguin is the most southerly municipality in the District of Parry Sound. It is also the first municipality in Northern Ontario in the Highways 69 and 400 corridor. Rosseau, Ontario
Rosseau is a community in the District of Parry Sound in Ontario, Canada, located in the township of Seguin. It is situated on the north shore of Lake Rosseau, a popular vacationing area. It is one of the ends of the Rosseau-Nipissing Road, which stretches all the way up to Lake Nipissing, near North Bay, Ontario. An Ontario Historical Plaque was erected by the province to commemorate the Rosseau-Nipissing Road's role in Ontario's heritage. Rosseau was formerly an incorporated village, which was amalgamated into the newly created Seguin Township on January 1, 1998. The town shops are mostly arts and crafts shops with a few exceptions. One of them is the famous Rosseau General Store, which has stood since the late 19th century. The town has a marina and public beach area that has undergone renovations including new boat launches and large docks, a pavilion and public washrooms. The Archipelago
The Archipelago is a township in central Ontario, Canada, along the Georgian Bay in the Parry Sound District. The municipality consists of two non-contiguous parts, separated by Carling and the Parry Sound. The northern part includes the village of Pointe au Baril on the mainland and most of the geographic townships of Shawanaga and Harrison. This covers the islands and shoreline of Georgian Bay from the Twin Sisters (at the northern boundary of Carling Township) north to Charles Inlet and the Naiscoot River, a few miles south of Britt. The Township of Georgian Bay is an area municipality of the District Municipality of Muskoka, in south-central Ontario, Canada. The Township of Muskoka Lakes is a municipality of the District Municipality of Muskoka, Ontario, Canada. It has a year-round population of 6,588. The municipal offices are located in Port Carling. Magnetawan
Magnetawan is a township in the Almaguin Highlands region of the Parry Sound District in the Canadian province of Ontario, as well as the name of the primary population centre in the township. The Township of Magnetawan was formed in 1998 through the amalgamation of the Township of Chapman and the Village of Magnetawan, along with the unincorporated geographic Townships of Croft and Spence. McKellar, Ontario
McKellar is a township and census subdivision in Parry Sound District, Ontario, Canada. Per the 2016 Census, it has a population of 1111. McKellar is named for Archibald McKellar (1816-1894), a member of the legislative assemblies for the province of Canada (1857-1867) and Ontario (1867-1875). Communities McKellar is also the primary and largest community within the township, located along Provincial Highway 124. It was originally known as Armstrong's Rapids, but the name McKellar was given when the post office opened in the community in 1870. Broadbent is named for American Steel Millionaire, Samuel Broadbent (1845-1923) who financed the building for the Trans-Canadian Railway. Camp Ekon also known as Stanley House is a property and resort for summer camps. It is situated on the shore of Lake Joseph on Stanley House Road in Rosseau in the township of Seguin, Ontario. It is run by the Society of Jesus, part of the Roman Catholic Church. The original Stanley House was built in 1888. It burned down in 1921 and was rebuilt a year later. In 1937, the Jesuits moved into the premises.
