Horseshoe Lagoon is a rural locality in the Shire of Burdekin, Queensland, Australia. In the , Horseshoe Lagoon had a population of 213 people. Geography The ''Haughton River'' forms part of the western boundary. ''Horseshoe Lagoon'' (the body of water) is in the west of the locality adjacent to the river. The Bruce Highway enters the locality from the east ( Barratta) and exits to the west ( Mount Surround / Giru). The North Coast railway line enters the locality from the north-east (Barratta) and exists to the north-west (Giru); there are no stations within the locality. The predominant land use is growing sugarcane. There is a network of cane tramways to transport the harvested sugarcane to the Invicta sugar mill in neighbouring Giru. Ayr State High School
Ayr State High School is a heritage-listed state secondary school at 82–90 Wickham Street, Ayr, Queensland, Ayr, Shire of Burdekin, Queensland, Australia. It is one of three high schools in Ayr, the others being Burdekin Catholic High School and Burdekin Christian College. Ayr State High School was designed by Department of Public Works (Queensland) and built from 1935 to 1937. It was also known as Ayr State High and Intermediate School. The North Coast railway line is a 1067 mm railway line in Queensland, Australia. Bruce Highway
The Bruce Highway is a major highway in Queensland, Australia. Commencing in the state capital, Brisbane, it passes through areas close to the eastern coast on its way to Cairns in Far North Queensland. Haughton River
The Haughton River is a river located in North Queensland, Australia. Course and features The headwaters of the river rise in the Haughton Valley of the Leichhardt Range near Mingela and flow in a north easterly direction almost immediately crossing the Flinders Highway. The river then passes between Mount Prince Charles and Mount Norman then past Glendale. Major Creek discharges into the Haughton under Major Creek Mountain and the river continues crossing the Bruce Highway just south of Giru.
