Sewadjkare Hori
Sewadjkare Hori (also known as Hori II) was a pharaoh of the late 13th Dynasty, possibly the thirty-sixth king of this dynasty. He reigned over Middle and Upper Egypt for five years, either during the early or mid-17th century, from 1669 until 1664 BC or from 1648 until 1643 BC. Attestation Sewadjkare Hori is only known for certain from the Turin canon, row 8, column 7 (Gardiner, von Beckerath: row 7, column 7). The Turin canon provides the prenomen Sewadjkare and the nomen Hori for this king. Jürgen von Beckerath assigns to him a stone fragment from El-Tod inscribed with the prenomen "Sewadj ..e". However, since there are two other rulers from the Second Intermediate Period bearing the same prenomen, this identification remains conjectural.Jürgen von Beckerath: ''Untersuchungen zur politischen Geschichte der zweiten Zwischenzeit in Ägypten'', Glückstadt 1964, S. 61, 254 (XIII 31.) Identity Sewadjkare Hori should not be confused with Sewadjkare, a pharaoh of the ea ...

Papyrus Anastasi I
{{More footnotes, date=March 2017 Papyrus Anastasi I (officially designated papyrus British Museum 10247) is an ancient Egyptian papyrus containing a satirical text used for the training of scribes during the Ramesside Period (i.e. Nineteenth and Twentieth dynasties). One scribe, an army scribe, Hori, writes to his fellow scribe, Amenemope, in such a way as to ridicule the irresponsible and second-rate nature of Amenemope's work. The papyrus was originally purchased from Giovanni Anastasi in 1839. Content and importance to modern scholarship The letter gives examples of what a scribe was supposed to be able to do: calculating the number of rations which have to be doled out to a certain number of soldiers digging a lake or the quantity of bricks needed to erect a ramp of given dimensions, assessing the number of men needed to move an obelisk or erect a statue, and organizing the supply of provisions for an army. In a long section Hori discusses the geography of the Mediterranean ...

Hori (slur)
Hori is an ethnic slur used against people of Māori descent. The term comes from a Māori-language approximation of the English name George, which was very popular during the early years of European colonisation of New Zealand. By means of synecdoche, the term came to be ascribed firstly to any unknown male Māori and then as a negative epithet to all male Māori. The usage as a derogatory term for Māori grew with the increasing urbanisation of Māori and is still common, though its usage may be less than in past decades.Taonui, R. (2011). Ngā Tuakiri Hōu – New Māori Identities – Urban Identifiers. In ''Te Ara – the Encyclopedia of New Zealand''. Retrieved from http://www.TeAra.govt.nz/en/nga-tuakiri-hou-new-maori-identities/page-2 The level of offence implied by the use of the term has varied over time and with context. In the mid-1950s, there was a radio sketch "Dad and Hori" and in the early 1960s, the Pākehā writer W. Norman McCallum published several bestsell ...
