Nancy Sit
Nancy Sit Ka-yin ( zh, 薛家燕; born 30 March 1950) is a Hong Kong actress on the TVB network. Her acting career dated back to the 1960s, when she was a popular teen idol alongside Connie Chan Po-chu, and Josephine Siao. Sit recorded many albums in her teens, and later served as a mentor to Anita Mui, who went on to become one of the biggest superstars in Hong Kong history. Sit left the entertainment business after she got married and raised a family, but in the early 1990s, her marriage fell apart when her husband left her. Sit was devastated and has said she contemplated suicide. But she thought of her children, which gave her the will to continue with life. She decided to get back into show business and was able to capitalize on the popularity she had achieved as a teen idol, even though it was so many years later. Early life In 1923, Ho was born in Guangdong province, China. Ho grew up in Shanghai, China. Education Ho graduated from Shanghai Drama Institute. Career In 1955, Ho joined the Shaw Brothers studio. Bo-Ying Lee ( is a former Chinese actress and Cantonese opera singer from Hong Kong. Lee is credited with over 45 films. Early life Lee’s ancestral hometown is Daliang Subdistrict, Shunde District, Foshan, Guangdong province. Yam Kim-fai (, 4 February 1913 (Lunar 29 December 1912 – 29 November 1989), also known as Ren Jianhui was a renowned Cantonese opera actress in China and Hong Kong. Yam was most notable for her unique ability to sing in the lower register. That her opera voice was indistinguishable from a male one allowed her to play either male or female roles, though she usually performed male ones. On 24 June 1972, Yam performed for the last time in public and TV viewers looked for the "man" they knew from movies/stage performances. Yu comes from a Peking opera family. Yu's father was Yu Jim Yuen, who ran the ''China Drama Academy'', a Peking Opera School in Hong Kong. Career Yu learned Peking Opera at the age of eight and made her stage debut at the age of nine. She specialized in playing female warrior roles in which she could skillfully demonstrate her footwork by continuously juggling and kicking back twelve red-tasselled ''tuo shou'' (脫手) spears, as seen in one of her famous stage Peking operas, ''The White Snake'' (白蛇傳), and in the 1951 film ''Amazon on the Sea'' (海上女霸王).
