Hong Kong At The 2016 Summer Olympics
Hong Kong competed at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, from 5 to 21 August 2016. This was the territory's sixteenth appearance at the Summer Olympics, since its debut as a British colony in 1952. The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China sent a team of 37 athletes, 13 men and 24 women, to compete in nine sports at the Games. The nation's full roster in Rio de Janeiro was smaller by five athletes than in London, and also, featured more female athletes than males for only the second time in its Olympic history. Eleven athletes from Hong Kong previously competed at London 2012, including bronze medalist Lee Wai Sze in track cycling, badminton player Yip Pui Yin in the women's singles, mountain biker Chan Chun Hing, and 37-year-old table tennis player Tie Ya Na, who attended her fourth Olympics as the oldest and most experienced member. The Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China (Traditional Chinese: 中國香港體育協會暨奧林匹克委員會; in short SF&OC, 港協暨奧委會) is the National Olympic Committee (NOC) of Hong Kong. Vivian Kong Man Wai (born 8 February 1994) is a Hong Kong left-handed épée Fencing, fencer, three-time individual Asian champion, and two-time Olympic Games, Olympian. Jaspar Yu Woon Chai (born November 14, 1988) is a Bruneian badminton player. He achieved a career high ranking of 199 in the men's singles discipline. It was announced in May 2016 that he was awarded the tripartite commission to compete in the men's singles event at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Hu Yun (; born 31 August 1981) is a retired badminton player representing Hong Kong since 2006. He competed at the 2010 and 2014 Asian Games, and also 2016 Rio Olympics. Born in Wuhan, Hubei, China, Hu started playing badminton in 1988, and participated in local province badminton teams at an early age. The men's long jump competition at the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil was held at the Olympic Stadium between 12–13 August. Thirty-two athletes from 23 nations competed. Chan Ming Tai
Chan Ming Tai (Chinese: 陳銘泰 born 30 January 1995), also known as Theophilius Chan, is an athlete from Hong Kong specialising in the long jump. He is coached by Ms Chan Wai Yin and Dr Anthony Giorgi. At the 2015 Summer Universiade he finished 4th with a jump of 7.89m (0.9). At the 2016 Asian Indoor Championships in Doha he won the bronze medal with a jump of 7.85m. The women's marathon event at the 2016 Summer Olympics took place on 14 August on the Sambadrome. Summary At 9:30 in the morning, the race started with temperatures around . The pack stayed bunched, with Mare Dibaba, Visiline Jepkesho, Rose Chelimo, Volha Mazuronak and Tirfi Tsegaye each taking their turns in the spotlight. The racing got serious, the pack was down to seven at 30 kilometres with American Desiree Linden the closest pursuer but unable to get back with the group.
