Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary
The Hong Kong Baptist Theological Seminary is a Baptist theological institute located in Hong Kong, China. It is affiliated with the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong. History The school was founded in 1951 by the Baptist Convention of Hong Kong on the premises of Kowloon City Baptist Church. In 1958, it inaugurated a new campus. In 1999, it moved to its current building. Sai O () is a village of in the Shap Sze Heung area of Sai Kung North, in Tai Po District, Hong Kong. Administration Despite its proximity to the neighbouring areas administered by Sha Tin and Sai Kung districts, Sai O is actually administered by Tai Po District. It is covered by the Sai Kung North constituency of the Tai Po District Council, which is currently represented by Ben Tam Yi-pui. Sai Kung North refers collectively to the areas on the southern side of Tolo Harbour and the northernmost part of the Sai Kung Peninsula. Part of this broad area is served by Sai Sha Road, a motorway between Sai Kung and Ma On Shan. Geography Geographically it is a practical exclave of Tai Po District, along with Shek Ngau Chau, Tap Mun and Tung Ping Chau. The Baptist Convention of Hong Kong is a Baptist Christian denomination in Hong Kong. It is affiliated with the Baptist World Alliance. The headquarters is in Mong Kok. History Background Baptist work in Hong Kong traces its roots from the first missionaries sent by the Triennial Convention to work with the Chinese. Due to the hostility to foreigners in China at that time, missionaries were forced to work in areas with significant Chinese population in territories outside of Chinese control.
