Homerun (film)
''Homerun'' () is a 2003 Singaporean Standard Mandarin, Mandarin-language period film. A remake of the award-winning Iranian film ''Children of Heaven'', ''Homerun'' is a drama about two poor siblings and their adventures over a lost pair of shoes. Jack Neo
Jack Neo (born 24 January 1960) is a Singaporean actor, television host, comedian and film director. He was prominently a full-time Mediacorp artiste from 1983 to 2003. In the 1990s and early 2000s, he was best known for his cross-dressing roles, as Liang Po Po (literally: Granny Liang) and Liang Xi Mei (a woman homemaker in her 40s) in the long-running television comedy show ''Comedy Nite''. Since his debut as a feature director, Neo has proven to be the most commercially successful local director who has also met with some success in Malaysia and Taiwan. He has shown a penchant for the franchise series films. His most critically acclaimed film is ''I Not Stupid'', which satirizes Singapore's streaming educational system in 2002. Censorship In Malaysia
Censorship is a long term issue in Malaysia which has become more apparent as it attempts to adapt to a modern knowledge-based economy. Despite having in its Federal Constitution that subject to certain conditions, "every citizen has the right to freedom of speech and expression" ( Article 10), Malaysia has consistently sat low on global indexes related to press and media freedom. Joshua Ang Ser Kian (; born 1 March 1989) is a former Mediacorp artiste from Singapore who starred alongside Shawn Lee in the film ''I Not Stupid'' and its sequel ''I Not Stupid Too''. Karung Guni
A ''karung guni'', also spelled as ''karang guni'', is a type of scrap dealer in Singapore. Its practitioners are a modern form of rag and bone man that visit residences door-to-door to acquire unwanted items. Etymology "''Karung guni''" is a Malay phrase for gunny sack, which was used in the past to hold the newspapers. The ''karung guni'' would haul the heavy sacks on their backs as they walked their rounds to do the collection. Today, most of them use a hand truck instead.
