Homenmen Sports Association Beirut (; ), or simply Homenmen, is a Lebanese-Armenian multi-sports club based in Beirut, Lebanon, section of the pan-Armenian sports and scouting organisation of the same name. Founded in 1921, the football club competes in the , having won the Lebanese Premier League four times, and the Lebanese Elite Cup once. Homenmen's activities also include table tennis, cycling, as well as a scouting program. History Following the foundation of Homenmen on 27 January 1921, the Lebanese branch was formed in 1924. The club was among the founding members of the Lebanese Football Association in 1933. They were affiliated with the Hunchak party. Homenmen played various clubs worldwide, most notably Hajduk Split in Yugoslavia in 1945, Al Ahly and Zamalek in Egypt in 1969, as well as multiple trips to Armenia. The Armenians in Lebanon ( hy, Լիբանանահայեր, translit=Libananahayer; ar, الأرمن في لبنان; french: Arméniens du Liban) are Lebanese citizens of Armenian descent. Asian Cup Winners' Cup
The Asian Cup Winners' Cup was an association football competition run by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The competition was started in 1991 as a tournament for all the domestic cup winners from countries affiliated to the AFC. The winners of the Cup Winners' Cup used to contest the Asian Super Cup against the winners of the Asian Club Championship. Gurgen Vazgen Engibaryan ( hy, Գուրգեն Վազգենի Ենգիբարյան; ar, كوركن فازكين ينكيباريان; born 19 March 1964) is a former footballer who played as a midfielder. Born in the Armenian SSR, in the Soviet Union, Engibaryan moved to Lebanon in 1993, acquiring Lebanese nationality through naturalization in 1995. He represented Lebanon since then, playing at the 2000 AFC Asian Cup. 2000 AFC Asian Cup
The 2000 AFC Asian Cup was the 12th edition of the men's AFC Asian Cup, a quadrennial international association football, football tournament organised by the Asian Football Confederation (AFC). The finals were held in Lebanon between 12 and 29 October 2000. Japan national football team, Japan defeated defending champion Saudi Arabia national football team, Saudi Arabia in the final match in Beirut. Qualification 42 teams participated in a preliminary tournament. It was divided into 10 groups and the first-placed team of each group thus qualified. Homenetmen Sports Association Beirut ( ar, الجمعية الرياضية هومنتمن بيروت; ), or simply Homenetmen, is a football club based in Beirut, Lebanon, that competes in the . It is the association football branch of the larger Lebanese-Armenian multi-sports and scouting organisation of the same name. Homenetmen Beirut was established in 1924, just six years after establishment of Homenetmen in Constantinople. The club won seven Lebanese Premier League and three Lebanese FA Cup titles. They also participated in the Asian Champion Club Tournament in 1970, finishing in third place. History Homenetmen Beirut were founded in 1924, as one of the oldest teams in the region. Gevorg Zhorzhiki Karapetyan (; ; born 15 December 1963) is a professional football coach and former player who is the assistant coach of club Ansar. Born in Armenia, Karapetyan played as a defender or midfielder. He moved to Lebanon in 1993 and played for the Lebanon national team. Mardik Tchaparian
Mardiros Tchaparian ( ar, مارديروس تشاباريان), commonly known as Mardik ( ar, مارديك, links=no), is a Lebanese former footballer who played as a striker. Active during the 1950s and 1960s, he used to play as a striker for Homenmen at club level. He was the top scorer in the 1960–61 Lebanese Premier League, scoring 15 goals during the season. Mardik also represented the Lebanon national team, scoring a hat-trick in the 1963 Arab Cup. International career On 29 February 1956, Mardik scored against Hungary after an individual effort; Lebanon lost 4–1. Hungarian forward Ferenc Puskás congratulated Mardik, and stated that he has the technique to be able to play in Europe.
