Home To Roost
''Home to Roost'' is a British sitcom produced by Yorkshire Television between 19 April 1985 and 19 January 1990. Written by Eric Chappell, it stars John Thaw as Henry Willows and Reece Dinsdale as his teenaged son Matthew. The premise is that Henry Willows, a 40-something who has been divorced from his wife for seven years and is perfectly happy living alone in London until his oldest child, Matthew arrives to live with him after being thrown out by his mother. The episodes generally revolve around Henry's annoyance at having his solitude disturbed and the age gap between father and son. Henry employs two cleaners during the show's life; first Enid Thompson and in the third series, Fiona Fennell. The show's theme tune is Lionel Bart's "''Consider Yourself''" from ''Oliver!'', arranged in a jazz style by Peter Knight. The series was later repeated on Channel 4, ITV3 and Forces TV. Sitcom
A sitcom, a portmanteau of situation comedy, or situational comedy, is a genre of comedy centered on a fixed set of characters who mostly carry over from episode to episode. Sitcoms can be contrasted with sketch comedy, where a troupe may use new characters in each sketch, and stand-up comedy, where a comedian tells jokes and stories to an audience. Sitcoms originated in radio, but today are found mostly on television as one of its dominant narrative forms. A situation comedy television program may be recorded in front of a studio audience, depending on the program's production format. The effect of a live studio audience can be imitated or enhanced by the use of a laugh track. Critics disagree over the utility of the term "sitcom" in classifying shows that have come into existence since the turn of the century. Elizabeth Bennett is a British actress and television producer. Pieter Lutz
Pieter Lutz (13 August 1927 – 20 August 2009) was a Dutch actor best known for his role as Fred in the Dutch sitcom ''Het Zonnetje in Huis''. His older brothers Ton and Luc were also actors and he is the uncle of Dutch actor Joris Lutz. Lutz graduated from Theaterschool in 1954 and made his debut in '' A Midsummer Night's Dream'' by William Shakespeare. Over the course of his career, he appeared in many films, including the horror film '' De Lift'' and ''The Crab with the Golden Claws''. He also played roles in other television series such as the '' Pride and Prejudice'' adaptation ''De vier dochters Bennet'' where he essayed the role of Mr. Collins. Pieter Lutz married Ivonne Bernarda van Elburg (1940 – 2013) in Rotterdam on 26 February 1959 and the couple had three daughters. Pieter Lutz died in summer 2009 at the age of 82 from cardiac arrest. ''You Again?'' is an American sitcom television series that aired for two seasons on NBC from February 27, 1986, to January 7, 1987. It was based on the British show ''Home to Roost''. Synopsis Jack Klugman stars as Henry Willows, a man still embittered from his divorce ten years earlier, who had made no effort to see his son Matt ( John Stamos) during that time. Henry had become fairly comfortable with his life as a supermarket manager and was not really looking to make major changes to it when Matt arrived looking to stay with his father, whom he hardly knew anymore. Matt was an ill-mannered but quite attractive youth who was very popular with the girls. He drove the gruff Henry almost over the edge, but of course in the end familial ties conquered all differences in sitcom tradition.
