Home Guard Command (Denmark)
Home Guard Command (), is the Danish Home Guard's top authority and is a level one authority reporting directly to the Ministry of Defence. The Home Guard is a volunteer military organization offering a permanent state of readiness. The task of the Home Guard is to support the armed forces - nationally as well as internationally. In addition to this, the Home Guard supports the police, the emergency services, and other civilian authorities. The Home Guard contributes internationally with guard duty, build-up of military capacity, and support to civilian reconstruction. The Home Guard has a combined military and civilian leadership. The Commanding General of the Home Guard is responsible for the training and posting of units and managing the Home Guard. The Danish Defence Command (DCD) ( da, Forsvarskommando, ''FKO'') is the Danish joint military command and the top coordination and controlling authority of the Danish military. It is a Level I command authority, directly under the Ministry of Defence. Vordingborg
Vordingborg () is an old ferry town in Vordingborg Municipality in Denmark with around 18,000 inhabitants. Because of three large estates surrounding the town, a coherent urban development has not been possible, which is the reason why three satellite towns (former villages) have emerged around the town. Within the ring of estates, the town has 12,000 inhabitants, and 17,868 inhabitants when including the three satellite towns of Ørslev, Nyråd, and Stensved, situated 1, 3 and 5 kilometres, respectively, from the town of Vordingborg. Major General
Major general (abbreviated MG, maj. gen. and similar) is a military rank used in many countries. It is derived from the older rank of sergeant major general. The disappearance of the "sergeant" in the title explains the apparent confusion of a lieutenant general outranking a major general, whereas a major outranks a lieutenant. In the Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth and in the United States, when appointed to a field command, a major general is typically in command of a Division (military), division consisting of around 6,000 to 25,000 troops (several regiments or brigades). It is a two-star general, two-star rank that is subordinate to the rank of lieutenant general and senior to the rank of brigadier or brigadier general. Danish Home Guard
The Danish Home Guard ( da, Hjemmeværnet) (HJV) is the fourth service of the Danish military. It was formerly concerned only with the defence of Danish territory, but since 2008, it has also supported the Danish military efforts in Afghanistan and Kosovo. Service is voluntary and unpaid, though members' loss of income from time taken off work, transport expenses and other basic expenses are compensated. However, workshop and depot staff plus clerks and senior officers are all paid. The unarmed Women's Army Corps (''Lottekorpset'') was merged in 1989 with the then all-male Home Guard to form the present, armed unisex Home Guard. Its top authority is the General Command (HJK) which is managed directly by the Danish Ministry of Defence (FMN). Kastellet, Copenhagen
''Kastellet'' () is a citadel located in Copenhagen, Denmark. It is one of the best preserved fortresses in Northern Europe. It is constructed in the form of a pentagon with bastions at its corners. Kastellet was continuous with the ring of bastioned ramparts which used to encircle Copenhagen but of which only the ramparts of Christianshavn remain today.
