Hollywood / I Am the Resurrection is the second single release by Scottish alternative rock band Codeine Velvet Club from their 2009 debut album ''Codeine Velvet Club''. It is a double A-Side with their cover of The Stone Roses' "I Am the Resurrection". The song was released on 28 December 2009, the same day as their debut album. "I Am the Resurrection" went on to be added as a bonus track on the band's debut album. Promotion To promote the track, Codeine Velvet Club posted a video of the band performing the song in the studio on September 6, 2009 along with various of tracks from the album. An official video has been released and can be viewed on their website or the Island Records Channel on YouTube. It depicts the band performing "Hollywood" to an empty hall, with the exception of the woman from the album and single covers watching. The band opened each gig of their 2009 UK tour with this song. Codeine Velvet Club
Codeine Velvet Club was a Scottish alternative rock band formed in 2009 by Lou Hickey and Jon Lawler, while Lawler's band The Fratellis were taking a hiatus after their second album '' Here We Stand''. Codeine Velvet Club's sole album, their self titled debut album was released on 28 December 2009 in the UK and on 6 April 2010 in the US. After releasing their album and playing a string of live dates, in early 2010 it was announced the band would not continue beyond their scheduled tour dates. After the band disbanded, Lawler took the backing band to work on a solo project and Hickey returned to her solo career. ''Codeine Velvet Club'' is the debut, and only, studio album by Codeine Velvet Club. It was released on 28 December 2009 by Island Records in the United Kingdom and was released on 6 April 2010 by Dangerbird Records in the United States. Background and release The album was produced by Jon Lawler and Stuart McCredie and mixed by Tony Hoffer (Who produced The Fratellis' debut album ''Costello Music'') and was recorded at Terminal Music in Glasgow, Playground Studios in Glasgow and Angel Recording Studios in London. The album was written by Jon Lawler (with some tracks written by Lou Hickey and Will Foster). The album was originally meant to be released on 23 November, but was pushed back as the band were a little unhappy with aspects of the album and wanted to change them. Jon Lawler
Jon Fratelli (born John Paul Lawler; 4 March 1979) is a Scottish musician and singer-songwriter, best known for his work with the band The Fratellis. Alongside his work with The Fratellis, Lawler has played in a band called Codeine Velvet Club and as a solo artist. Early years Lawler hails from Cumbernauld, but later moved to Glasgow. He attended St. Maurice's High School and went to college before dropping out within three hours. Before joining the Fratellis, he played in various bands including an Oasis and Blur covers band. Ian Brown
Ian George Brown (born 20 February 1963) is an English singer and multi-instrumentalist. He was the lead singer of the alternative rock band The Stone Roses from their formation in 1983. Following the split in 1996, he began a solo career, releasing seven studio albums, a greatest hits compilation, a remix album, an 11-disc box set titled ''Collection'', and 19 singles. He has performed solo shows in 45 countries. The Stone Roses
The Stone Roses were an English Rock music, rock band formed in Manchester in 1983. I Am The Resurrection
"I Am the Resurrection" is a song by the Stone Roses and the final song on the UK version of their debut album. The last four minutes of the song is an instrumental outro. The single was released on 30 March 1992, and reached number 33 on the UK Singles Chart. It was the second of two singles released from their début album while the band were estranged from their label Silvertone. Background Regarding the song's origin, drummer Reni revealed the track originated when bassist Mani played the riff of The Beatles' "Taxman" backwards. Reni said, "Mani would play the riff backwards during sound-checks and we played along over the top for a laugh. Finally we said, Let's do this joke-song properly and see what happens."
