Hole in the Sky was a Norwegian extreme metal festival held in Bergen that took place at the end of August each year from 2000 to 2011. The first event was held in 2000 in honor of the then recently deceased Erik "Grim" Brødreskift, ex-member of Borknagar, Gorgoroth and Immortal. The festival was named after the eponymous song by Black Sabbath. The last edition of the festival took place in August 2011. Midgardsblot is an annual extreme metal and folk music festival organized in Borre, Norway. The festival has been organized since 2015 and takes place at the Midgard Viking Centre, museum in a former Viking settlement and the largest burial mound site in Northern Europe. Inferno Metal Festival is an annual extreme metal festival that takes place every year during Easter in Oslo, Norway. The festival was founded by Borknagar guitarist Jens F. Ryland in cooperation with Radar Booking in 2001 and takes place at Rockefeller Music Hall. Lineups 2022 The 2022 edition will replace the 2020 edition, cancelled because of the COVID-19 pandemic. "Hole in the Sky" is a song by the English heavy metal band Black Sabbath. It is the opening track on their sixth studio album, ''Sabotage'', released in 1975. Composition Musical structure Author Mick Wall wrote that the song features a "door-slamming riff that wouldn't have been out of place on ''Paranoid''" (the band's second album, released in 1970). Immortal is a Norwegian black metal band from Bergen. The group was founded in 1991 by frontman and guitarist Abbath Doom Occulta (Olve Eikemo) and guitarist Demonaz Doom Occulta (Harald Nævdal). The pair worked with various drummers (including Grim, Armagedda and Hellhammer), and were later joined by former drummer Horgh (Reidar Horghagen) in 1996. In March 2015, long-serving member Abbath announced his departure from the group following a dispute with the other members of the band, and he went on to form a new band under his name called Abbath. Gorgoroth
Gorgoroth is a Norwegian black metal band based in Bergen. It was formed in 1992 by guitarist Infernus, who is also the only original member remaining, and the band have since released nine studio albums. Gorgoroth are a Satanic band and have drawn controversy due to some of their concerts, which have featured impaled sheep heads and mock crucifixions.
