Holbæk Municipality
Holbæk municipality is a municipality (Danish, '' kommune'') in northwestern Region Sjælland on the island of Zealand (''Sjælland'') in Denmark. The municipality includes the island of Orø, and covers an area of 583 km², and has a total population of 69,010 (2008). Its mayor is Christina Krzyrosiak Hansen, a member of the Social Democrats (Denmark) and the youngest mayor ever in Denmark. The main town and the site of its municipal council is the city of Holbæk. On 1 January 2007 Holbæk municipality was, as the result of ''Kommunalreformen'' ("The Municipal Reform" of 2007), merged with existing Jernløse, Svinninge, Tornved, and Tølløse municipalities to form a new Holbæk municipality. 2009 Danish Local Elections
The Danish local elections of 2009 were held on 17 November 2009. Councils were elected in Denmark's 98 List of municipalities of Denmark, municipalities and the Regions of Denmark, five regions. 2468 seats were contested in the municipal elections (2005 Danish local elections, previous election: 2522 seats). 205 seats were contested in the regional elections. Legal basis The electoral details are laid down in the municipal and regional electoral act. The elections are overseen by the Ministry of the Interior. Jørn Sørensen (mayor)
Jørn Sørensen (born 17 October 1936) is a retired Danish association football striker. He played 31 games and scored six goals for the Denmark national football team, and won a silver medal at the 1960 Summer Olympics. He started his career with Danish club KB, before moving abroad to play professionally for FC Metz in France, Scottish clubs Greenock Morton and Rangers, as well as AC Bellinzona and US Giubiasco in Switzerland ). Danish People's Party
The Danish People's Party ( da, Dansk Folkeparti, DPP/DF) is a nationalist and right-wing populist political party in Denmark. It was formed in 1995 by former members of the Progress Party (FrP). The DPP lent its support to the Venstre– Conservative People's Party coalition government that ruled from the general election of 2001 until the 2011 election defeat.
