Hobart Football Club (nicknamed The Tigers) is an Australian rules football club based in Hobart, Tasmania. They play their home fixtures at the TCA Ground on the Queens Domain, in Hobart and from 2014, the club has been a member of the Southern Football League after voting to withdraw from the Tasmanian State League at the end of the 2013 season after five seasons in that competition. Glenorchy Football Club
The Glenorchy District Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently playing in the Tasmanian State League and the Southern Football League in Tasmania, Australia. History The club is nicknamed the Magpies after its black and white playing strip, and was originally known as New Town Football Club (wearing a green and white strip) when it started out as a member of the Tasmanian Football League in 1919. New Town changed its name to Glenorchy in 1957 after absorbing the already established club Glenorchy Rovers and relocated its headquarters to KGV Oval at Glenorchy in Hobart's northern suburbs in the same year, playing its first match at the venue on 4 May 1957 against Hobart. Trevor Leo
Trevor John Leo (born 1936) is a former Australian rules footballer from Tasmania who played during the 1950s and 1960s and was chosen at state representative level. Rover Trevor Leo came to Hobart from Cooee where he was a Best and fairest winner. He made his Hobart debut in 1954 and was a member of their premiership side that year as well as in 1959 and 1960. His greatest individual achievement as a player was winning the William Leitch Medal in 1957 and he also won two Best and fairests while at Hobart. In 1962 he was captain-coach of Launceston. Leo joined New Norfolk in 1963 and was immediately appointed their captain-coach. In 1968 he steered the club to their inaugural TANFL/TFL premiership and also the Tasmanian State Premiership. He retired as a player following his 1968 triumphs but stayed on as coach for one more year. In 1974 he returned to Hobart where he was coach for the season. Jack Sullivan (footballer Born 1919)
Jack P. Sullivan (2 April 1919 – 19 June 1990) was an Australian rules footballer who played with Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL). Sullivan, recruited from Ormond Amateur, started out at Richmond as a centre half-forward but was later used in the ruck and at centre half-back. It was as a centre half-back that Sullivan played in the 1942 VFL Grand Final, but he wasn't able to steer his side to a win. He didn't feature at all in the 1944 and 1945 seasons, then played the first six rounds in 1946, before transferring to Williamstown. From 1947 to 1950, Sullivan was captain-coach of Hobart and led them to a TANFL premiership in the last of those years. Bernie Waldron
Bernie Waldron (20 March 1920 – 20 December 1990) was an Australian rules footballer who played for Richmond in the Victorian Football League (VFL) during the early 1940s. Waldron appeared in ten finals with Richmond, four of them Grand Finals. A premiership player at Richmond in 1943, he was a Grand Final runner-up in 1940, 1942 and 1944. Waldron played a variety of positions in his career, but was used mostly as a centreman, half back flanker or on the half forward flank. In the 1941 VFL season he was involved in a collision which broke the leg of Carlton's Jack Hale and forced the rover to retire. After leaving Richmond he played at Hobart and was a member of their 1950 premiership team, kicking an important behind in the dying seconds to break the deadlock. Southern Football League
The Southern League is a men's football competition featuring semi-professional clubs from the South and Midlands of England. Together with the Isthmian League and the Northern Premier League it forms levels seven and eight of the English football league system. The North Launceston Football Club, nicknamed ''The Bombers'', is an Australian rules football club based in Launceston, Tasmania. Australia. Since 2009 they have played in the newly formed Tasmanian State League. History The club started as "Railway Football Club" in 1893 and were known as "Essendon" in the 1898 season. It fielded a team in the NTFA Junior Competition for three years, and began playing in the senior competition in 1896. Its first season under the North Launceston name was in 1899 when it played in the Northern Tasmanian Football Association. Devonport Football Club is an Australian rules football club based in Devonport, Tasmania. The club currently competes in the North West Football League (NWFL). Channel Saints
The Channel Football Club was an Australian rules football club that last played in the Old Scholars Football Association (Tas), also known as Old Scholars, from 2009 to 2015. Previous to that it was a member of the Southern Football League from 1996 to 2008 and the Huon Football Association from 1967 to 1995. The Channel Football Club's emblem was the Saints, although it changed to the Sharks from 2009 to 2015. York Park is a sports ground in the Inveresk and York Park Precinct, Launceston, Australia. Holding 19,000 people – the largest capacity stadium in Tasmania, York Park is known commercially as University of Tasmania Stadium and was formerly known as Aurora Stadium under a previous naming rights agreement signed with Aurora Energy in 2004. Primarily used for Australian rules football, its record attendance of 20,971 was set in June 2006, when Hawthorn Football Club played Richmond Football Club in an Australian Football League (AFL) match. South Launceston Football Club
The South Launceston Football Club is an Australian rules football club currently competing in the Northern Tasmanian Football Association. They were formed through a merger between City-South and East Launceston in 1986, clubs in the former Northern Tasmanian Football Association (which is not related to the current NTFA). South Launceston was in the TFL Statewide League from 1986 to 1997, then the Northern Tasmanian Football League until 2008, then in the Tasmanian Football League until 2013. The club is nicknamed ''The Bulldogs'', a name which was adopted upon the merger. City-South were the Redlegs and East Launceston had been known as the Demons.
