Hlynur Bæringsson
Hlynur Elías Bæringsson (born 6 July 1982) is an Icelandic professional basketball player for Stjarnan of the Úrvalsdeild karla and a member of the Icelandic national basketball team. He won the Icelandic championship in 2010 as a member of Snæfell and the Swedish championship in 2011 as a member of Sundsvall Dragons. Hlynur was a key player with the Icelandic national team when it made its first appearance in EuroBasket in 2015 and again in 2017. He is one of eight players who have played at least 120 games for the team. A prolific rebounder, he led the Úrvalsdeild karla in rebounds twice and the Basketligan once. In 2019, he became the Úrvalsdeild karla all-time career rebounding leader. The power forward (PF), also known as the four or strong forward, is a position in basketball. Power forwards play a role similar to centers. When on offense, they typically play with their backs towards the basket. When on defense, they typically position themselves under the basket in a zone defense or against the opposing power forward in man-to-man defense. The Games of the Small States of Europe (GSSE) is a biennial multi-sport event, launched by the Republic of San Marino, organized by and featuring the National Olympic Committees of nine European small states since 1985. DBL All-Star Game
The Dutch Basketball League All-Star Gala was a yearly basketball event in the Netherlands, organised by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). During the event the yearly All-Star Game was played, which included the best players of a given DBL season. Additionally, a dunk Contest and three-point contest were also held at the event. Since the 2017–18 season, the event is no longer organised by the FEB. Dutch Basketball League
The Dutch Basketball League (DBL), formerly the Eredivisie, was the highest professional basketball league in the Netherlands, run by the Federatie Eredivisie Basketball (FEB). Since 2021, the league has been replaced by the Belgian-Dutch BNXT League. The league had a closed system: to participate, a team has to have enough money and potential. Keflavík Men's Basketball
The Keflavík men's basketball team, commonly known as Keflavík, is the men's professional basketball department of Keflavík ÍF (Keflavík, íþrótta- og ungmennafélag), based in the town of Reykjanesbær in Iceland. They currently play in Úrvalsdeild karla. Rivalry with Njarðvík Keflavík's biggest rivals are their closest neighbours, Njarðvík. The teams are both based in Reykjanesbær. EuroBasket 2017 was the 40th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe and held between 31 August and 17 September 2017. Beginning from 2017, the continental championships take place every four years with a similar system of qualification as for the FIBA Basketball World Cup. Like the previous edition, the tournament was co-hosted by four countries. Games in the group stage were held in Turkey, Finland, Israel and Romania. The knock-out phase was played in Istanbul, Turkey. Slovenia won their first-ever tournament after defeating Serbia 93–85 in the final. EuroBasket 2015 was the 39th edition of the EuroBasket championship that was organized by FIBA Europe. It was co-hosted by Croatia, France, Germany, and Latvia, making it the first EuroBasket held in more than one country. It started on 5 September and ended on 20 September 2015. The top two teams ( and ) qualified to the 2016 Summer Olympics.
