Hisøy Church
Hisøy Church ( no, Hisøy kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Arendal Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of His on the island of Hisøya. It is one of the churches for the Hisøy parish which is part of the Arendal prosti ( deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden, empire style church was built in a cruciform design in 1849 using plans drawn up by the architect Gustav Adolph Lammers. The church seats about 500 people. From 1881 until 1992 it was the main church for Hisøy municipality. History The earliest existing historical records of the church date back to the year 1320, but the church was likely built during the 13th century. The church was part of the Øyestad Church parish, and this church was likely an annex chapel. Grimstad () is a municipality in Agder county, Norway. It belongs to the geographical region of Sørlandet. The administrative center of the municipality is the town of Grimstad.
