Hinckley F.C.
Hinckley F.C. was a football club based in Hinckley, Leicestershire, England. Until 2010–11 they played in the East Midlands Counties Football League, having joined from the Leicestershire Senior League at the end of the 2007–08 season. They resigned from the league in 2011. History The club was established in 1967 as Downes Sports — initially playing in the South Leicestershire League. For season 1974–75, whilst members of the Leicester & District League, they changed their name to Downes Athletic but reverted to Downes Sports the following season. After finishing in third place in the Premier Division of the Leicester & District League, they joined the Leicestershire Senior League Division One for the 1987–88 season. They gained promotion to the Premier Division by finishing third in 1991–92. De Montfort Park
De Montfort Park was the first name given to a football stadium built off Leicester Road in Hinckley, Leicestershire. It was the home of Hinckley United, an English football club from the town, until it was dissolved in October 2013. The main stadium is now the home of Hinckley LRFC. The main football stadium was renamed Leicester Road Stadium on 6 June 2013. The site covers and includes three full size pitches, two three-quarter size pitches, three half size pitches and a full size, all-weather floodlit 3G rubber crumb surface pitch. It is named in honour of Simon de Montfort, 6th Earl of Leicester. The flagship of the complex is the Leicester Road Stadium, a 4,329 capacity purpose-built football ground, comprising a gymnasium, sports injury clinic and a social club. Hinckley is a market town in south-west Leicestershire, England. It is administered by Hinckley and Bosworth Borough Council. Hinckley is the third largest settlement in the administrative county of Leicestershire, after Leicester and Loughborough. Hinckley is about halfway between Leicester and Coventry and borders Nuneaton in Warwickshire. Watling Street forms part of the Hinckley/Nuneaton border and the two towns are contiguous. The Leicestershire Senior League (currently sponsored by Everards Brewery) is a football competition based in Leicestershire, England. History The league was formed in 1896, had a two-year hiatus between 1901 and 1903, and has run continuously since 1903 apart from during the two world wars and a four-year spell in the 1930s. A second division was added in 1948. The longest serving team in the league was Holwell Sports, who completed 76 seasons in the league, 60 of them in the top division but left in 2008 to join the new East Midlands Counties Football League.
