Hillsdale High School (Ohio)
Hillsdale High School is a public high school near Jeromesville, Ohio, United States. The building is located in Mohican Township in between the villages of Jeromesville and Hayesville. Athletic teams are known as the Falcons, and the school colors are Columbia Blue, Navy Blue and gold. The school opened in the fall of 1964. History The idea for Hillsdale High School was born in 1961 when Jeromesville and Hayesville decided to merge their school districts. Joyce Justice's suggestion for the name "Hillsdale" was selected as the winner of the contest to name the school. A committee made up of representatives from both districts agreed on the school colors of Columbia blue and gold, and the nickname the "Falcons". The school eventually opened in the fall of 1964. The first senior class graduated in 1965. Hillsdale was a member of the Firelands Conference until 1970, when they were asked to replace Triway High School in the Wayne County Athletic League, despite not being located ... Jeromesville, Ohio
Jeromesville is a village in Ashland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 531 at the 2020 census. History Jeromesville was platted in 1815 ( near the site of a former and abandoned Native-American village named "Jerometown"). It is named for Jean/John Baptiste Jerome, (a French-Canadian fur trader and pioneer settler), from whom, Christian Deardorf and William Vaughn purchased land and 'founded' a new pioneer village, (which was originally spelled "Jeromeville"). A post office has been in operation at Jeromesville since 1816. Hayesville is a village in Ashland County, Ohio, United States. The population was 448 at the 2010 census. History Lemuel Boulter was the original owner of the land that the village of Hayesville was formed. Boulter sold his interest in the land to Linus Hayes. The first settlers came to the Hayesville area in 1817. A post office for the settlers was established in 1827 at Hayes Cross Roads. The Firelands Conference is an Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) athletic league located in north-central Ohio. The league was formed in the 1960–61 school year and is named for the Firelands area of the old Western Reserve, where most of the member schools reside. High schools in this conference are located in Ashland, Huron, and Richland counties. Some of the schools' district boundaries extend into the neighboring counties of Crawford, Erie, and Lorain. Triway High School is a public high school in Wooster, Ohio. It is the only high school in the Triway Local School District. Their nickname is the Titans. Background Triway serves primarily the townships of Wooster, Franklin, and Clinton, and the village of Shreve in Wayne County, Ohio. These three areas agreed to consolidate in 1960 under the name of "Triway", and the school was opened at its current location in 1963.
