Hillsborough Interchange
Hillsborough Interchange is a bus and tram interchange in Hillsborough, Sheffield. It serves a variety of operators including First South Yorkshire,Sheffield Supertram and Stagecoach Yorkshire, South Pennine Community Transport. It is staffed between 07:00 and 19:00 Monday to Saturday and has six bus stands and two tram platforms. History The area currently occupied by the bus station was formerly a Total Garage. Services that formerly terminated at Malin Bridge and Forbes Road were diverted into the Interchange, and services that formerly stopped further up the road by Hillsborough Barracks near the old Officer Mess building (now the headquarters for Sheffield Insulations Ltd) were also re-routed to stop at the Interchange. Hillsborough () is a suburb in north-west Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The centre of the district is popularly thought to be 'Hillsborough Corner' where Langsett Road, Middlewood Road, Holme Lane and Bradfield Road all meet. The Hillsborough ward population at the 2011 Census was 18,605. History The name of the suburb comes from Hillsborough House built and named in 1779 in tribute to the Earl of Hillsborough who lived in Hillsborough, County Down. Approximately 42 people were killed in the immediate Hillsborough area in the Great Sheffield Flood of 1864 and there was much devastation. The area only started to be built up as the district recovered from the flood with the success of the steel and engineering industries in Sheffield creating a demand for suburban housing. Meadowhall Interchange
Meadowhall Interchange is a transport interchange located in north-east Sheffield, consisting of a combined heavy rail station, tram stop and bus and coach station. The second-busiest heavy rail station in the city in terms of passenger numbers, Meadowhall Interchange provides connections between National Rail services, the Sheffield Supertram light rail network, intercity coach services and the city bus network. The interchange was opened in 1990 by British Rail under the Regional Railways sector, to serve the new Meadowhall shopping centre, which opened at the same time and is connected to the interchange by a pedestrian footbridge. Wisewood
Wisewood is a suburb of the city of Sheffield in South Yorkshire, England and situated north-west of the city centre. It is a residential suburb consisting almost exclusively of council housing, some of which has been bought by tenants under the right to buy scheme. It is bordered by the adjacent suburbs of Loxley, Wadsley, Malin Bridge and Hillsborough (in whose ward the suburb is situated). Location The original location of Wisewood was in the Loxley valley just before the river reached Malin Bridge and it is still shown as such on the 1:25,000 scale Ordnance Survey map. The former industrial sites of ''Wisewood Forge'' and ''Wisewood Rolling Mills'' are situated in the Loxley valley as is Wisewood Cemetery. Loxley is a village and a suburb of the city of Sheffield, England. It is a long linear community which stretches by the side of the River Loxley and along the B6077 (Loxley Road) for almost . Loxley extends from its borders with the suburbs of Malin Bridge and Wisewood westward to the hamlet of Stacey Bank near Damflask Reservoir. Sheffield Interchange is the main bus station in central Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England. The facility is served by buses operating across the Sheffield region, as well as National Express coaches that connect Sheffield with destinations across the United Kingdom. The Interchange is located on the eastern side of Sheffield City Centre on Pond Street. The majority of bus stands at the Interchange are inside the dedicated Interchange building, although there are five additional bus stands located at the roadside on Flat Street opposite the Interchange building. Darnall Railway Station
Darnall railway station is on the Sheffield to Lincoln Line and was built in 1849 to serve Darnall, a community about from the centre of Sheffield, South Yorkshire, England, and which later became a suburb of the city. Arundel Gate is one of the main thoroughfares in Sheffield, England. It is located in the Heart of the City, Sheffield, Heart of the City area of Sheffield City Centre.
