is a List of towns in Japan, town located in Yatsushiro District, Kumamoto, Yatsushiro District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. The town was formed on October 1, 2005 from the merger of the towns of Miyahara, Kumamoto, Miyahara and Ryuhoku, Kumamoto, Ryūhoku. Ryuhoku, Kumamoto
was a town located in Yatsushiro District, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan. As of 2003, the town had an estimated population of 8,430 and a density of 360.26 persons per km². The total area was 23.40 km². On October 1, 2005, Ryūhoku was merged with the town of Miyahara (also from Yatsushiro District) to create the town of Hikawa, as part of the "Great Heisei Merger" government initiative. The town's output is mainly agricultural, with the major crops being nashi pears, strawberries, glutinous rice, and igusa straw for making tatami mats. Koji Akiyama
Koji Akiyama (秋山 幸二 ''Akiyama Kōji'', born April 6, 1962) is a retired Japanese professional baseball player. He played for the Seibu Lions and the Fukuoka Daiei Hawks (currently the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks) in Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB). A speedy slugger, Akiyama accumulated more than 400 career home runs and 300 career stolen bases, a feat matched only by one other NPB player in history (Isao Harimoto). Akiyama was an integral part of the "Invincible Seibu" during the 1980s and 1990s, named such due to their sustained domination of the league, winning 11 league championships and eight Japan Series championships between 1982–1994.
