Highline High School is a public high school in Burien, Washington, United States, located about 3.5 miles from Seattle–Tacoma International Airport. Highline High School, the flagship high school of the Highline Public Schools district, opened in 1924 and served the cities of Burien, Des Moines, and an area south of Seattle now known as White Center. Today, those cities all have their own area high schools, but at the time Highline was the only high school in the area. History The name ''Highline'', for which the school was named, derives from the original name for Des Moines Memorial Drive, which was called the "High Line Road" for its location along the ridge between Puget Sound and the Miller Creek Valley. Today the name represents the geographic area for Burien, SeaTac, Normandy Park, Des Moines and White Center. Normandy Park, Washington
Normandy Park is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 6,771 at the 2010 census. History Normandy Park was officially incorporated on June 8, 1953. The city is located in King County and is bordered on the north by the City of Burien and by the City of Des Moines to the south. The Seattle-Tacoma Land Company was organized in the mid-1920s for the purpose of developing of land on the shores of Puget Sound between Seattle and Tacoma. The development was to be known as Normandy Park, a planned residential community with strict building codes and numerous restrictions. It was to be a community of distinctive architecture in the French Normandy style, and there was to be a yacht club, two community beaches and a golf course. Nate Daligcon
Nathan "Nate" Daligcon is a retired American soccer midfielder who played professionally in the A-League. Over his eight-year professional career, Daligcon won four league and one U.S. Open Cup titles. Early life In 1992, Daligcon graduated from Highline High School. Collegiate career He attended Seattle Pacific University, playing on the men's soccer team from 1992 to 1995. In 1993, Daligcon and his team mates won the NCAA Men's Division II Soccer Championship. Raymond Conner
Raymond L. Conner (born ) is a retired American businessman formerly serving as vice chairman of The Boeing Company and president and chief executive officer of Boeing Commercial Airplanes. Early life and education Conner grew up in Burien, Washington and went to Highline High School. In 2014, Conner was recognized with the "Outstanding Alumnus" award by the Highline Schools Foundation. Ryan Duane Brett (born October 9, 1991) is an American former professional baseball second baseman. He made his Major League Baseball (MLB) debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2015. Career Tampa Bay Rays Brett attended Highline High School in Burien, Washington. He was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the third round of the 2010 Major League Baseball Draft. Brett made his professional debut that season for the Gulf Coast Rays. He played 2011 with the Princeton Rays and started 2012 with the Bowling Green Hot Rods. Ingrid Backstrom (born August 21, 1978) is an internationally ranked professional skier from Seattle, Washington, United States. Backstrom graduated from Highline High School in Burien, Washington as a straight-A student, three-sport varsity athlete, and co-valedictorian. Miss Washington USA
The Miss Washington USA competition is the pageant that selects the representative for the state of Washington in the Miss USA pageant. It is currently produced by Pageants NW Productions based in Puyallup, Washington, which also produces Idaho, Montana and Oregon state pageants. Washington has been moderately successful in terms of number of semi-finalists and placements, and has had one Miss USA. Dorothy Anstett won the crown in 1968 and went on to place 4th runner-up at Miss Universe. The most recent placement was Tara McCormick in 2004, placing Top 15. Adelle August
Adelle August (12 February 1934 – 24 April 2005), was an American movie actress. She was born in Kennewick, Washington as Adele M. Slaybough. In 1952 she graduated from Highline High School, and was crowned Miss Washington USA the same year. Two years later she was signed to Columbia Pictures. Her brief career in the film industry lasted 1955–56 when she appeared in three films and a pair of television episodes, including the TV western ''Cheyenne'' in which she appeared as Jeremy Barnes in the 1955 episode "Julesburg."
