Highasakite
Highasakite is an indie pop and indie rock band from Norway. The band formed when vocalist and songwriter Ingrid Helene Håvik met drummer Trond Bersu whilst studying jazz at the Trondheim Jazz Conservatory. In 2010, after just six months, the duo started working on their debut album. The album ''All That Floats Will Rain'' was released in 2012. History Formation and ''All That Floats Will Rain'' (2010–2012) Vocalist Ingrid Håvik and drummer Trond Bersu met while Bersu was studying jazz at the Trondheim Jazz Conservatory; after starting out as a duo, the two recruited Thomas Dahl, a producer, to help out on bass and guitar, and Øystein Skar joined the group to play synthesizer. After bonding they spent the next six months working on a debut album. Their debut album, ''All That Floats Will Rain'', was released in Norway in February 2012 on the record label Riot Factory, and was produced by Juhani Silvola and Thomas Dahl. Trond Bersu
Trond Bersu (born 4 January 1984 in Skjåk, Norway) is a Norwegian drummer and producer. Career During his music studies on the Jazz program at the Trondheim musikkonservatorium Bersu started the band PELbO together with fellow students Ine Hoem and Kristoffer Lo. Their self titled debut album was nominated for the 2010 Open class Spellemannprisen. The second album release was ''Days Of Transcendence'' (2011). In Trondheim he also collaborated with another fellow student Ingrid Helene Håvik and later on when established in Oslo, they started the band Highasakite together. Their debut album ''All That Floats Will Rain'' (2012) was well received, but and was nominated for This year's newcomer at Spellemannprisen the same year. Silent Treatment (Highasakite Album)
''Silent Treatment'' is first full-length album, and second in total, released by Norwegian indie pop group Highasakite. Upon release the album received rave reviews, with Norwegian newspaper ''Dagbladet'' lauding it, giving Highasakite their second consecutive 6/6 from the newspaper; ''Verdens Gang'' was equally enthusiastic, giving it a 5/6. For the album, Highasakite won the "Pop Group of the Year Award" at the Norwegian equivalent of the Grammy Awards, Spellemannprisen; additionally, Håvik was nominated in the categories "Composer of the Year" and "Writer of the Year", winning the former. Marte Eberson
Marte Maaland Eberson is a Norwegian keyboardist and composer, known from bands including Morning Has Occurred and Highasakite. She is the daughter of the guitarist Jon Eberson. Career Eberson was born in Oslo, and obtained her formal musical education from the Music program at Foss videregående skole, "Sund Folkehøgskole", followed by a bachelor's degree from the Jazz program at Griegakademiet ( UiB) in Bergen. She is involved in many different bands and various musical contexts, most recently with the band Eberson Funk Ensemble, a band including her guitarist father Jon Eberson, Pål Thowsen, Sigurd Hole and Kim Erik Pedersen at Victoria, the Norwegian National Jazz Scene in Oslo 2013. Propeller Recordings is a Norwegian independent record label, launched in 2003 in Oslo. It has grown into an influential label both in its home city as well as worldwide, and has now expanded to include a UK office based in London. The label operates across a wide number of genres and concentrates on Norwegian artists who have commercial potential worldwide. Spellemannprisen, often referred to as the Norwegian Grammy Awards in English, is a Norwegian music award presented to Norwegian musicians. The award was established by the International Federation of the Phonographic Industry (IFPI), an organization that represents the interests of the recording industry worldwide. First awarded in 1973, the prize honours musicians from the previous year; it is still awarded annually, usually in January or February. The Spellemann committee, composed of members of IFPI Norway and FONO, manages the award and acts as the judge. 21 categories are currently awarded, in addition to other honorary and industry awards the committee may give. Ingrid Helene Håvik
Ingrid Helene Håvik (born 1987 in Ålesund, Norway) is a Norwegian songwriter and vocalist. She is best known as the lead singer of Highasakite but has also released a solo album under the artist name Ingrid. Biography Håvik is a former member of the band Your Headlights Are On with a self-titled album in 2011. Highasakite was formed the same year, and they released their debut album ''All That Floats Will Rain'' the next year, with Håvik as one of the main composers. Øystein Skar
Øystein Skar (born 15 October 1985 in Vinstra, Norway) is a Norwegian pianist and composer, known from bands like Cakewalk, Glow, Highasakite and Klang Kollektif. Career Skar was raised in Vinstra, Oppland and started at the local music school at the age of 12. He continued his piano studies on the Music program at the Vinstra high-school (2001), and started studying jazz-piano and improvisation under Misha Alperin at the Norwegian Academy of Music (2004). Kristoffer Lo
Kristoffer Lo (born 19 February 1985 in Moss, Norway) is a Norwegian jazz musician (tuba, flugabone, guitar, keyboards) and composer. Biography Lo has redefined the use of tuba and its role in band. From its traditional role as the low-end in symphony orchestras and Dixieland bands, he has taken the instrument to a new direction, filling the position as the ultra low end in metal- and noise bands. The Nobel Peace Prize Concert ( Norwegian and Swedish: '')'' has been held annually since 1994 on 11 December, to honour the Nobel Peace Prize laureate.
